    Hi,

    Backlinking of course should be on everyone's 'to do' list. Installing the Google Tool Bar is a good idea so you can see the PR of very site you visit. My understanding is that a link from a page ranked '4' has 8 times the 'weight' of a link from a PR 3 page, which is in turn 8 times the weight of a PR 2 and so on. So links from higher PR pages can really boost your authority, and it's worth targeting some relevant high PR sites in your niche.

    Some people have commented above that the initial post is stuff they already know. Others find it valuable. Answer - if one person finds it useful it doesn't matter that you heard it before. There's stuff you'll find useful that others will have heard before!
