This conversation is the perfect example of how you don't follow me around, heh? What about the reply I made to browntwn that prompted the reply and subsequent tantrum? The only way I can avoid you replying to my posts and picking fights is to stop posting here, and I'm not going to do that. You're bringing what to the table by constantly picking fights over some personal issue you have with me? You're ruining another thread. The ban taught you nothing, obviously. Dog crapped enough money for the ferrari yet? FFS stop saying I'm bitching about the rep!!! Seriously, if you're going to keep repeating something, try to make it about the dog crap and ferrari. And make the ferrari an armor-plated one resistant to logic and reason. Maybe put Ron Paul's face on the top over top the confederate flag. You could call it the General Not Me (as in, I never start arguments) Dah, dah dah!!!! Captain Justifier to the rescue! What would you do if you didn't have a thread about you!! This is the next best thing to having your own comic book or TV show. ZAP! BAM! WAP! Stay tuned for when Captain Justifier takes the heads out of the asses of the neocons with a set of dumbbells and bad grammar!
BY THE ELECTORAL NUMBERS The news guys frequently tell us poll numbers that lump the nation together as if this were actually done on a straight national vote... but I'm sure most that hang in a thread about politics this long know that isnt the way it's counted. Here's where this is at currently on the electoral projections. SYNOPSIS Right now it is tighter than it looks on that map because a state here or there that is on the edge could make the election go either way. McCain is currently projected to be ahead in states that are polling strongly in his favor BUT... polls can be wrong, projections can be off, and sometimes it all depends on which group is energized to show up and vote on election day... not who SAYS they favor a candidate. It takes 270 electoral votes to win. There are enough votes in toss-up states to take this either direction. Source: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=5 Note: Source data on site shows deeper analysis. The numbers shown are based on the combined results of multiple polling organizations. MOMENTUM: McCain-Palin The chart at the bottom of the map shows the states that have changed status in last 3 months. Five states have changed status in that time. All 5 changes favor the McCain-Palin ticket. That speaks to the direction of the momentum. Palin's Effect on Race The dates of all 5 changes are post Palin announcement. Hence my prior statements re the effect she's having on the race. .
Guess time will tell, a lot of people who were for Palin are starting to sour to her. A DJ in the morning yesterday who was for her, called her 'boring' on the air, over her and ripped on her for refusing to show up to the hearings going on around trooper gate. We will see how much of that support totally slips away but it appears from what I am personally witnessing 'not polls' to be happening. As the facts come out people who actually listen to facts and not their parties spin appear not to be liking the meal they were fed from the McCain/Palin ticket.
I see nothing wrong with a good quote,, obviously it was not made in a racist point of view. A writer made the speech, she might not even have a clue where it came from or who the guy is.
then why did they not revealed the source? they sure thought there is something wrong with it. also he said about RFK.
Let me get this straight Pizzaman. Obama kicked off his political career with a fundraiser hosted by a guy that bombed the Pentagon and Capitol buildings and was, along with his wife, on the FBIs Most Wanted list. You tell us that association means nothing. Palin makes an innocuous quote that says nice things about people in small towns... and now she's to be held responsible for everything the unattributed author ever said, and by proxy she's to be considered a racist? Is that the way logic works on your planet? File photo of one of the hosts of Obama's '95 fundraiser
LoL. It isn't like pugs did not attack him on that. There is nothing in the VP speech that is not open to discussion. People are not stupid you know. It is customary that when you quote someone in your speech you reveal the source. Palin merely cites 'a writer'. so there is the red flag for me. a deliberate attempt to hide the source.
@ robjones. I think the polls are useless in this election. Obama and McCain no doubt have a large # of supporters. The key to the election is which side will get their supporters that are registered voters to actually cast a vote. Obama has a lot of young voters that tend to be more about talking than getting out and voting.
I have no problem discussing the speech, but if you want to argue that saying "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity" makes her a racist, you're disproving the last part of your post.
Pailin going to UN. when she meets the japanese she can talk about how she loves sooooshi. afterall they have fish in Alasks
Unless you can somehow prove, or show a decent case that the quote was used for a racist agenda and not simply because they liked the quote I'm sorry but there is no point in jumping to conclusions. If you could show it was used as a racist intent, if there was some other proof other than the quote came from the guy, even though the quote itself is not racist you might have something. Hell I'd even say it's more than simply having a supporter who at one time did some bombings as using the words for your agenda/speech is far above a 'supporter'. There simply is no proof, nor are the words themselves racist in any form.
part of the speech. i did not put it there. They put it there. she will have to answer for it not you. Maybe she will explain it in her next interview
This is not the court of law. It is the court of public opinion. she quoted a well known racist and they knew he was a racist and were not upfront about it. They tried to hide it from general public. obviously there was a reason
Hmmm... "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity" or "And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations" I wonder who will get the small town vote?
No it is not a court of law. However you need a case to get people like me to believe your opinion. You can believe the moon is made of swiss cheese all you want, does not mean I will believe or support you. Many people believe in tinfoil hats, does not equate to them having support of a broad spectrum of the population.
She quoted something innocuous and is thereby responsible for every belief they hold; Obama hobnobs with a guy that's set bombs in the Capitol and you're not concerned. Pizza - That is possibly the silliest position imaginable. Now I see why one might have a beginner rep here despite almost 2700 posts. [Confession: I quoted Snoopy once... I must be a closet Beagle.]
