You should use those ebooks instead of toilet paper... at least that way they will have some kind of use. Really... people saying that reading ebooks is better than going trough forums and working and testing... I can;t understand that mediocre point of view. Might as well say "hey, why bother going to college? Just buy yourself a couple of books and read them, all the info you need is there."
Fryman, that is not what I said at all and you are kind of contradicting yourself. Would you say its ok to quit college to read dp ? =P
the rich jerk strikes again. although he may have some good tips, im sure the same info can be found online. although tempting..
Maybe the biggest lesson you can learn from this is not whether the books content is worth buying the book but more importantly at the amount of free publicity a book most say not to purchase receives. Remember there is no bad publicity ask Martha Stewart, Bill Clinton, and numerous others, still doing well even though they "supposedly" were bad people for whatever reasons. PS Anyone who said people should not buy books to learn ...should live some place where people can't buy books they want.
1. Too slow -- you are forced to learn at the speed of the slowest student. 2. Beauracratic -- quality is depressed by inefficient systems which are designed to reinforce power structures, not improve quality. 3. Not customer focused -- in college, vendors have all the power and customer have almost none. How backwards is that? 4. Expensive -- college is much more expensive than books for the same amount of "education". But... on the flip side... 1. College gets you that ultra-valuable piece of paper. 2. College is better for people who lack discipline, as discipline is partially externally-enforced.
I have nothing against college Whats wrong with a $30,000.00 a year beer party?? Besides Bill Gates quit college too
I have purchased many ebooks. Some are good, some are not. You take you chances. If you purchase through clickbank, you automatically have a money back guarentee. Psst... here's hint.. Most of them are on limewire I'm reading the rich jerk right now...
I never did well in college... just could never sit still and listen to someone talk for that long. I barely made it through high school. I lived on various college campus for several years but hardly ever set foot in the classroom... I mostly just totally wasted my parents money (which i have more then paid them back now)
Fair enough guys. What we need are more colleges with entreprenuerialship programs. I never did that well in college either. The intenet is the closest thing to a level playing field in terms of starting any kind of business. As for ebooks, I dont use clickbank anymore when marketing to 'internetsavy people'. The lax refund policy is becoming almost infamous and very easy to abuse.
I hate to break it to you but there is no such thing as a entrepreneur however you spell it ship Either you are doing it or you are not. You cant teach someone to be a entrepreneur. That annoys me when people ask me like how i learned how to do it... i always say do what?? I didnt know shit about taxes or business or seo or whatever... I dont make business plans. geez im going to stop now cause its nothing against any of you... Basically all I am saying is quit waiting to "learn" something and start doing stuff.
That is definitely true -- doing is the best form of learning. That is also another black mark against college. The vast majority of my college professors had never done anything meaningful outside of the confines of the academic environment. Few minds can grow in such barren soil. But, back to the topic of books... The Origin and Evolution of New Businesses is a carefully researched treatise on entrepreneurship. It is the most scientific work yet-to-date on the topic of entrepreneurship. It's not a how-to manual, it's more of a who-you-are manual. It's a surprisingly good read.
Ever notice that forum-dwelling critics always want the Holy Grail for $49? "I ordered the ebook, now where is the magic button that I click to have thousands start rolling in?" I spend $49 on a steak. Not free steak for life. I created a brand. And you guys are still discussing it 5 months later. People, that's called a success. You can love it or hate it, just keep talking about it. And I imagine you will after you see it on TV. RJ
The rich jerk book is at best a useless book. Like so many other ebooks, it is just a rehash of other ebooks. And like so many other ebooks, that ebook does not really spell out how to make money. I saw someone on an auction selling it for a buck! Then at another forum not too long ago, someone was GIVING away the book! The sad thing is, people are affiilates of the book and will spend time and money pushing it hard. And sadder, people will actually pay full pop for the book! If people give it away for a buck, or free, then really, how much is the book worth? The Iowa Dawg
The Rich Jerk book has ideas in it that'll work. But frankly this forum isn't really the target market. It's aimed at people that buy ebooks in the hope they'll somehow get rich by reading them. The same people that Quixtar and Amway diamonds prey on by getting their IBOs plugged into "the system". ...except the Rich Jerk book actually has some sort of substance to it unlike the system dross.
I think its a waste of money as I am guessing there is not much more in the books than there is avalible for free on the internet.
