I absolutely agree, with that statement. AC and the likes are exploiting in a sense. However, that evened out by writers finding ways to return the favor(want details PM :p )

Going to agree to disagree with you on that one. That is just as bad as AC and the likes, if not worse.

I'm a programmer not a writer but I see some ridiculous requests on freelancing sites for all types of jobs: writing, ads posting, programming.
I usually chuckle when I see the "fulltime worker"needed paying $400 a month jobs."

But it's is now a global market, $500 a month is a huge fat check in many developing countries.

And they sometimes can just be as good as someone in the U.S or Europe.

I try to be competitive in my own line of work providing a high level of professionalism and courtesy with prospective
customers. That's one thing most people appreciate: Customer service.

agreed on the service part. Going that extra mile, actually goes a long way. However, I do believe there are limits to how cheap a service(any service) can be before it stops being profitable. You either are left with crap written by monkeys that can rearrange words, without fully understanding its meaning, and writers, that no longer care to write as it is no longer profitable. It is those writers I seek to lift up, and leave the monkeys to the exploiters.

Now programming... I honestly wouldn't have a problem with using someone from India. I used to work for a large energy company doing IT work. Nearly all of the programmers were from India. Of course the only downside that gets to me is the huge language barrier between India and the US. It is sometimes very difficult to communicate ideas.

I guess IT work and writing are two very different products. That is where buyers are wary of using anyone from India. This is not true of all Indian writers. Some of them are very good and even better than I am. Now that really doesn't matter much. But, when you read some of the forum posts from people who are trying to break into the writing world. Their posts are written in "broken English". It reads the same way they talk.

Now I believe that if anyone really wants to write then they can. It will take them time to learn a new style. They also have to put forth the effort to learn the language, that is speaking and writing it.

Of course this is just my opinion and I did mention that it is no way meant toward all the Indian writers on here. Some of them are very good at what they do.

Some examples: Arundhati Roy Jhumpa Lahiri V.S. Naipaul

not exactly - composing is loosely referred to as "writing music" ... :D. And of course once they think up their composition, they do write music with those weird yet endearing symbols which are all twisted this way and that ... so technically I am correct (YAY !! *Audience applause* .... *Takes a bow*)
