I have read many different ways to collect backlinks. My opinion on the long lasting or more relevant backlinks would come from directories. Article submissions are great but the traffic from such backlinks becomes more spread in time. Newer articles are pushed to the top of the heap. Blog commenting seems to be less effective I feel less traffic flows to the linked sites rather they already have the information relevant to their search. Forum posting I have had tons of posts in this forum in particular however converting traffic from a post in a forum seems less likely. Link exchange can actually hurt your PR if you want relevant backlinks it might be more effective to hunt them down and email them. Press Releases seems to be like handing out a flier to someone on the streets , they take a look then put in their pocket. As soon as another release comes out yours is bumped the search engines love NEW articles more the previous ones. So what in your opinion has been the most effective way of raising your PR to your site?
