    I may be blind but isn't google doing that right now? Your saying google is paying yahoo and all other ppcs in form of search engines are too ? Maybe i din't understand correctly.

    I think it is because really, the only way for either Yahoo or MSN to match the big G's search market share is to merge. neither one can take them down on their own.

    If Yahoo! revokes the patent, then it would have a clear #1. Google's main revenue source would be down; as would probably Yahoo's.

    Only with that, can they be able to challenge google's dominance. MSN are nowhere near google at the moment and so does Yahoo. Combining both search engine technology will mean they stand better chance.

    Well its only a theory, but since we don't know the terms of the deal which Google and Yahoo have over the 361 patent and the fact that adCenter had to launch outside the US it seems to make sense that Microsoft want the patent to be able to compete with Google and/or threat its revenue engine.
