Hi All. I'm on a quest for good backlinks from sites associated with the same industry but I have a question. My site and services are based in the UK, although many of the websites are based on the US. Now although I probably won't generate any business with these sites I'm still keen to get links for SEO reasons. My question is, will google penalise me or give me any credit for backlinks from associated sites in other countries?
You should be fine. I've never heard of an issue will local vs. international sites. Its more important for backlinks to be from the same niche.
if they are relevant sites, then no matter which geo the sites fall under, you will still be benefited in terms of SEO. you would benefit more if the backlinks are form same geo btw
Sure, links from same niche sites are good irrespective of the tld / hosting etc. But local sites would give you better link juice.
The country won't matter to Google (from a search engine spider point of view). You should still get value from acquiring links from sites in the US (or anywhere else for that matter).
The geo location is not important, relevancy (theme related) matters. Anyway with this method you'll probably get a lot of good one way back links from the UK too. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1305452
