I have noticed that most of the replies to the questions posed in my threads are very poor. Less than 5% actually answer any of the questions I pose. I don't understand why people bother. Myself, I try not to comment unless I've something insightful and relevant to add. Some people seem to follow a very different rule - they only post replies if they are trite and miss the point completely. Does anyone else have this problem? How, if at all, do you combat it? (You watch, they'll be answers like: "and me" and "the weather here is bad" and "have you tried godaddy?")
They simply want to increase their post count. In many threads you will come across people saying the same thing, although the answer has already been given a while back.
are you talking about on DP or on your site? DP, is simply because users like having a larger post count, they are able to sell advertising space on their profiles. If you are asking about your own website, I would suggest adding it into the TOS and rules, that only quality post and replies with be accepted.. infractions and ban's will follow if the rules are broken.. cheers -Brandon ps.. have you tried godaddy?
This is pretty much it ^^ I don't mind it so much in the general chat areas, but in business related forums people responding to threads with bad/ill informed answers in the form of 3-4 word sentences is annoying as heck.

No really, basically people do not read the whole thread, which results in people posting the same thing over and over again, without even knowing other people have answered the questions coherently.
I started a thread somewhat with similar reason which I am giving right now. Threads become chat window for many people. They totally forget the initial question and start targeting each other....
