The quality of new directories in Directory Critic

Is it just me or are the quality of submissions in Directory critic becoming very poor? For example take a look at new directories. I found one directory that request that you add their link to your site, then e-mail them to say you added their link and you now want your site listed. There are plenty more that I ran across while making submissions tonight

I generally stay away from free directory submissions for this reason. Its easier and quicker to pay someone to do it, someone who doesnt mind being wound up by their annoyance.

    yeah,
nowadays people would like to use the dropped domains or useless domains to build up web directory for quick bucks,
but i don't agree that free web directories mean bad or poor.
free directory is just a different business mode, unlike paid directory.

yeah, but poor advertising or tricks are just bad business imo. if you say free then make it free.
And if you require a recip or payment then say so at the start of the submit process!
I know the rationale behind such practices, just think they are quick buck and lame. I agree with the post title I was looking at the critic the other day, but didn't see anything worth paying for.
Anyone know any quality dir where my dir's might find a nest? paid or free.

Most of the directories in DirectoryCritic and info.vilesilencer.com are not that bad. Given that both sites are operated by people who provide manual directory submission service they should be able to keep a tab on quality and remove bad directories quickly.

DirectoryCritic also has a guaranteed directory submission service so they are bound to remove 'dead' directories too.

Interesting to note they have a submission service, is it just to free directories they submit to? We've not seen a single visitor from that site let alone a submission.

I think we're going to advertise with info.vilesilencer as it seems more organised.

    Checkout
    http://www.directorycritic.com/directory-submission.html
    and
    http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=submission.php

:) They keep submitting to these free directories and hence they are able to keep the list updated. I think almost all submitters do this (I do for my list).

I also prefer info.vilesilencer.com because they provide a downloadable excel but I think directorycritic might be a better place to advertise. Specially because of the recent ownership change, I see DC being promoted even more :)
