Hello, I was curious and hope that people could explain in depth what is the purpose of such sites: Top Sites and Directories Why do Directories sell for so much? I mean surely they are redundant. I never visit a Directory and don't think I ever will. How do you get directories with such high Page Ranks also. I mean there are so many links in them. Secondly Top Sites? Are these just traffic providers for the sites. They seem pointless imho. Should I assume that both only make money from Advertisements?
What price are you speaking of? They probably get a lot of click throughs if they are marketed properly. Besides, SE's like them and give good PR sometimes.
I imagine most directories get their high PR by linking to other directories with high PR. Visit any directory and you'll find links to many other directories on their site too.
