Sound like you got hit with the infamous http://webmail.cox.net/ You'll have to find all the webmails like that and block them via your firewall.
Quick question about proxies, how do you keep people coming to your site if your sitre is blocked where they're at?
my adsense over the past few days has been about $1 per proxy.. on a side note have any of you had experience with hivelocity servers? I was thinking of trying one out of a month with about 4gb ram 4tb bandwidth and running around 50 proxies on there. Do you think that would be powerful enough?
Every month i change my proxy IP so that the IP is not blacklisted. And i use EV verisign SSL to allow secure surfing using my proxy.
We simply just block cox and the spam has lowered down. Start by changing your IP address and getting an SSL certificate. - Prilep
I thought about using EV on one of my proxy sites, so people would see the green bar and place more trust in my service. But the problem arises with the method of earning money via the adverts to pay for cost of running it. Since ads are loaded via insecure urls and will break the green bar and they'll never see it anyways. Complete waste of money.
So i should block all web mail do you lose mush users then? Does gmail and hotmail doesnt has a system to prevent this? because i think allot of users are using hotmail.
If anything, you should definetally ban those anonymous and/or no account webmails like mailinator.com
I suppose not much people use proxies to access hotmail, gmail and other email sites but just the spammers do. My server was reported thrice for spamming and the IP's were blocked without any intimation for 3days so not just proxies but a lot more sites went down that time and hopefully the loss was alot more higher than what I could have earned from the visitors going to these email sites so its better to ban most of these anonymous mail and webmail sites
Yeah, and SpamCop is pretty much serious since many email providers (Commercial and personal) use their DNSBL , which means you'll get the IPs on your server blacklisted. The datacenter you host with will probably not approve of it. Also if you get spam yourself on your personal mail server, feel free to report the IPs to spamcop.
That is pretty easy to bypass it. All you need to do is keep changing your IP every month. It cost less than $5/IP nowdays.
I think my proxy got blocked by schools around 2 weeks ago, the traffic went from around 2K UV's down to 300 UV's can I put a re-direct on that domain to my new proxy or wont that work?
There is no point because the site will be blocked before it re-directs them to the new site . - Prilep
