If this is too much for you then no matter what is the best proxies out there, you 'd never succeeded. WHY? Because after someone answering your questions (probably with an example of a site - self promoting), you would end up asking another question such as "what is the best way to make money from proxies?", "where to find <$5 host for proxies?" etc etc.. Sorry if this is harsh but if you want to be serious in this, read. Anyway, I'm not that cruel. Answer to your question: No such thing as best proxy script as no official benchmark has ever created. Some will prefer phproxy for its lite script and can be tweak to be anything given that you are a good coder. Some till just love and hug Glype because of its plugins and nice themes. Some will just loved others for whatever their reason.

I got F all mate, a waste of money blatently. The SEO I am doing on my proxy sites far out weighs any proxy promotion like that.
I prefer using cgi script coz it have feature that other proxy script don't have. But the script is high CPU usage. That why i hire coder to mod the script to become less resources consumed.

If you code it to use cgi when browsing myspace, facebook etc to work well and then using php when surfing other sites, it would consume much much lesser resources
Well I finally created a proxy topsite ! Right now I am accepting proxies without reciprocal and no captcha !! Well wanna know if am asking for danger. Cos you know people might submit non-proxies !
the only thing i can say is that design is a bit different from all other proxy listing sites i have seen so far. I dont know what others will say about it but personally I liked the design and the layout just submitted mine and wouldnt mind giving a linkback too provided i know the anchor text to be used for it
