My view: Keep the index page free from junk, use CPC ads on it like adsense. If they click anything on the index page it should make you money! Put a small sign up box on the proxified page only.
I do? My point is, if the user is going to click something on that page it better earn you money, put it on your proxified pages along with your CPM ads.
I've decided to give it a try. Can Twitter Kill Proxy Newsletters? Read the full article here: http://theproxybusiness.com/2009/01/can-twitter-kill-proxy-newsletters-part-1/ Let me know what you think guys, I love getting comments
You sure know how to write controversial article names Looking forward to seeing your results but, no, twitter will never 'kill' proxy newsletters because they provide just as much value. I may be a bit biased though because I never caught the twitter bug and rarely visit the website.
Hehe, it is a bit exaggerated, and a social network will probably never compete with e-mails. But the outcome of using twitter instead of proxy newsletters if the growth continiues can be very rewarding in many ways. It's easier to update, it's very user friendly, etc.. I joined twitter about a month ago, I think. Since then I've learned to love it. It can be a very powerful marketing tool if you have the right amount and targeted followers. Another cool thing is that you can send me a proxy to share by just writing @proxywebsites "URL.com". This makes it easy to "submit" new proxies for this type of proxy promotion.
Tech Entrance is offering a 50% promo once again this year for proxy hosting, have a look... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1194633 thewird
you guys can download chrome proxy for free and test it if you'd like http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1195931
I ran at a loss for ages, it helped pay for my server and also helped people (including me) at colleges etc. I even ran add free for my first few months! And i also know a few people here are still running at a loss.
Maybe you should figure out how to monetize your sites then. Any proxy should be able to make a profit. Unless the only reason your running it is to get some money off a server your using for something else since you don't have enough traffic to fill the server which doesn't apply. thewird
