    array('framework.cox.net','idm.east.cox.net','idm.west.cox.net','webmail.east.cox.net','webmail.west.cox.net');

These sites have caused me trouble before. Someone was sending spam via these webmail services.

Ya those services, when you send email it puts your IP in the email headers and you get blamed for it if someone spams threw them.
also just add 'webmail' in the word filter in glype to be safe, if there is one you dont know about, it will turn all the links on the page into #### which will make the page unusable. Also I block those by Iptables.

I think his sites are hosted with www.freeproxies.org, so he has server capacity to grow to huge numbers. Thats why it important not to be cheap with hosting or else you site will have little growth.

Hey guys, remember the signature I used to have? A site to check status of a website either it is risked being banned by web filter or not? Well, I need a few volunteer to test the script.
I would like to ask those who are considered as senior in running proxies to help me out.
PM me if you are interested.

lethal have you ever went to proxy 0rg and clicked random proxy? Do this 20 times and check out how many actual proxy sites load. That site is dying not the most "comprehensive list" & and anyone who is actually intersted in making money from there proxy sites are now blocking non english speaking worlds so they wont notice the "mass traffic".

Some of the proxy list owners who I have seen in here have far better lists that are actually cleaned up lists of working sites. Tech-Faqs list is far better then proxy 0rg. Just some thoughts as I dont see why people keep plugging that freaking site when it isnt worth it anymore.

I mean with what he is suppose to be making and he cant get a coder to write a new script to check the sites in his list? Or as I said in another post if you go and find 3 dead links you click a fourth bringing up the click stats to four when it should have been one. So by not getting what you need the first time you inflate the ranking which is what he sells by.

Just my 2 cents, was the only part I didnt like of your 10 ways

i agree, i have posted before about blocking traffic from proxy.org as i know the traffic quality isnt good. I only recommend it to kick start traffic to your proxy rather than as a constant stream of good quality traffic.

The only annoying thing on proxy.org that bothers me is the link redirection that is used all over the site.

    That is true.
As to boost the traffic of new proxy sites, proxy.org does the job well but not to be used at constant basis. There is a lot of listing site out there that is better than proxy.org but then, the site has an advantage of being well known even on magazines and tv. (vtunnel incident)

Two things the redirect he is doing now makes believe even more that keeping the dead proxy sites in the list is on purpose as financially the site must not be doing well if he resorted to the redirect

However as far as kick starting a site suppose for some it may be ok but I look at 12x30=360 visits in a month while taking longer and more chances of being blocked by most web filters before the end of the month

With Tech-Faq you can get any where from 350 to 600 in the first day so while one trickles the other gets you out faster so 300 in one day see it and pass it along to there friends getting you more exposure quicker then 12 a day in my eyes at least. as I listed 4 this morning and each have almost 100 hits each which would have taken over a week at proxy 0rg.

    - Why with a normal non-SSL proxy, user can not browse many site, and
    - why it's hard to block SSL proxy for school admin? I guess school admin block the proxy domain name and if he knows the domain name, the proxy can't be visited

It not any harder for any admin to block still has an IP and even they were blocking urls and not IPs its only an extra "s" to add to the url. The belief is filters are less likely to block a https site or are slower to block them. Either way it will be blocked by some locations.

Are you blocking other countries or is that traffic from all over the world?
