Can anyone do a quick test for me to tell me if my banner is working? I don't mean to advertise but if you could go to http://www.rapidproxy.co.uk and enter your email address in the mailboxproxies flash banner, could you tell me if it works? It's just that it doesn't seem to be converting very well and I'm worried there might be some kind of technical problem. It works fine for me but I'm not sure whether it is working for everyone. On a side note, my earnings are pretty much dead at around $0.20 per day. The christmas holidays are really killing my proxies... I'm getting some traffic but with 3 clicks in 800 impressions I don't have much hope. I think I'm getting the wrong kind of traffic - the kind of traffic that won't click, and will just use the proxy... EDIT: Just noticed that there's been a PR update. Came at completely the wrong time for me - I've been launching new proxies, blogs and sites left right and center but they haven't had time to build any links yet. Oh well, I'll have to wait 'til 2009...
z613 your proxy site must be pretty popular I've visited it today from another location and I even thought promoting mine through your newsletter
Urbt, I think the reason why the form is converting so low is because of the flash design. When I checked it I first thought that it was just an ad, and only after reading in your post that it was a flash form I noticed it. Go for a flash design that blends, or just use standard html
Agreed with you. There are many factor that make flash design no good. Coz there are lot of people don't have flash software installed and my office pc is not flash installed
Urbt, A simple html form might convert better. I also thought it's an image ad when it first met my eye.
Thanks for the feedback everyone - I really appreciate it. I thought flash would be the only way to do that? Although I suppose you could do it in a table? Anyway, thanks for all your help.
Just to remind everyone that I still have these free premium spots giveaway running. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1146213

Has anyone ever tested how effective the "ip deny" feature is in cpanel? I've got geoIP installed on the server and for the most part it works pretty good, but there are a few IP's it misses. I tired the ip deny feature but it doesn't seem very effective for me.
According to maxmind, their ip database is 99.x% accurate. I add geoip code in my zelune script to redirect unwanted users.
You can use linux iptables to block individual ip blocks. I have seen few blocks from Iran is not flagged by maxmind, at least according to google. Alternatively, .htaccess blocking is handy if you are on shared hosting.
Thanks guys. My host has been pretty good about helping me block unwanted traffic but I'm just trying to find a way to resolve things myself without bothering them. Marketing I'm good at but...server stuff, not very good Speaking of marketing, has anyone had luck with the "hide-my-ip" affiliate program? I put their banner up across all my sites and it's getting clicked like crazy compared to the banners I had in place (like 10:1) but...no sales in almost 200 clicks. My adsense clicks have taken a dive since I put the banner up so...not sure if the two are related or just a coincidence.
