Yeah i did them myself. I don't like the idea of all my inbound links being from a forum as Google may see it as being a little bit too spammy. Therefore i am currently doing an experiment to see if my search engine rankings improve after i remove the spammy links.

A temporary ban :O I'm insulted i wouldn't get banned then again DP love to ban :D

Erm no just what i said up above, did them myself.

    Will.

I don't find that google rates forum links as spammy links. Now if you are an affiliate advertiser, you don't get full credit for all the links out there. But I still think there's a lot to be gained with that approach, too.

As i said i am just testing it..but if you think that i make over 5-10 posts a day (average 6.62 posts per day) thats 70-80 links a week seems a bit spammy to me.

However its a test i am going to wait for 3-4 weeks to see if my ranking improves, if it does significantly then i ll stay not using them if not then i will put them back on but perhaps use a different web page on the same site each month.

I agree to what Willy said about forum siggy links as spammy. These days, Google see sitewide backlinks spammy as well. I tested this before in the course of ranking for a very very competitive keyword. Before I placed the DP siggy link I was ranking on 7th page, 1-2 weeks after I placed the siggy link with the anchor text as the keyword, my SERPs vanished. It was not even found in the top 30 pages. This lasted for about 3-4 months, can't really discount that as Google dance. It was then there that I thought DP siggy links could be spammy so I removed them.

True enough, after removing them in 1 month's time my SERPs went back up to the 4th page for that keyword. As this was only tested once on an established site, I can't say for sure 100% that Google sees DP links as spammy and thus reduce your rankings in the SERPs. But I have tested on many sites regarding backlinks as sitewide links from many sites and I can be sure to say that Google sees sitewide links as spammy in which case they would devalue your SERPs ranking instead of bringing it up. That is something similar to what we are discussing here on DP siggy links as spammy. Simply too much backlinks from the same site. Of course getting a sitewide backlink from a high authority pr 5 and above site doesnt devalue your rankings just yet at this current age.
