What exactly do you mean with 'crap'?

 

Stupid links with subdomains, and submaps
They don't pay for their proxies those admins, we pay for all our domains... it's crap

Will should aprove them manualy , i closed my sites for now , there is no hope for me now because i have no time for the proxy project to spam them too

also yahoo groups are spammed by hidedude and idebura i don't know them but Yahoo groups also should use captcha for submission.

 

Well mate, we should learn those noobs...
Ignore those sites etc...
Does somebody know that admin from tech-faq?
Ask him for new rules etc..

I'm in deep shit right now. I disabled the contact form on my site because it was getting spammed and the bots invaded my proxy list. Hundreds of spam links submitted everyday

 

dont do proxy lists, they are not profitable unless you're the admin of proxy.org

 

Its a 3yo website. I'm not running it for profit. I believe in privacy and freedom.

 

Did any 1 of you posted in newsgroups and if so what groups you posted in?

 

just yahoo groups, search for them. 'proxy group' or 'black proxy' are popular groups where you can post in

the old owner didnt renew the domain so i grabbed it from backorder.

the site retained the PR3 and i am getting decent traffic from links and natural search.

Yep Tech-Faq is getting abused. Will really needs help from a php programmer to or hire one. To make function to check if the site is on subdomain (reject it) or there too many characters. (say max 10 characters) ==> reject if longer.

You can protect against bots usually by usign an .htaccess file and adding all the popular DC ip ranges into it and put into /home (Like FDC, Theplanet). Those ranges have lots of spammer on it. Like wordpress spammers and scrappers.

 

lots of sites getting abused, because you kids are spamming it like shit! Proxies is not about spamming, it's about building quality links. Really, 1 quality link is better then 100 topsite links .

So instead of wasting time submitting to topsites, get some links that are PR4/3/2/1 from the same niche.

Funny you say this. lol..When I first started proxywhereabouts.com, I got decent income that can buy a couple .com domains. Still, till now, people just send the money to the site and all I got to do is just check the proxies, make sure it IS a proxy and put it on the higher list.

Need to make a new rule, if I check the site is NOT a proxy, I will not put it on the list and will not do refund.

I have one time someone pay the site to put his proxy myspace profile..but I refunded him.

And the list has got strong PR3.

 

lot of proxy lists and topsites are getting abused these days - they think its a viagra directory the amount of crap that gets submitted

 

Omg yeah! The amount of viagra crap emails i am getting through one of my addresses currently is just a joke, really why do they waste there time sending these emails even if it is automatic.

Proxy topsites are overated i think, for one they are saturated with crappy topsites that send no traffic at all, and because of this it takes a while to filter through to the couple of decent topsites that may send you traffic.

Plus they slow down your proxy site with the backlinks they require and make a proxy site look unprofessional.

Proxy submission sites (Proxy lists) on the other hand are i would say worth the minute they take, however again you are never guaranteed of traffic.

Yahoo answers used to be a great source of traffic for proxy sites, however i am positive Yahoo is tackling the amount of proxy questions and answers they have received the past couple of years as they are starting to become ineffective.

Yahoo groups were again good, however like others have stated they are getting spammed so much, luckily i have a few my self to keep the traffic flowing.

mwolk.com gives good trafic
www.tech-faq.com gives good trafic
Also I have some links on some blogs that give good traffic
Dig gives almost nothing.
I submit every day to the new directory's listed here on the forums.
I submitted to 200 old directory's only 30% got accepted and gives shit traffic.
yahoo answers gives a little traffic
www.proxdir.com gives a little traffic
Google gives some traffic
I submitted my site to proxy lists those gives a good amount of traffic when you start your proxy but after that not much...

Any 1 got some options left?

 

I'm not too sure about blocking IPs when I'm running a site about unblocking. It would be hypocritical. I decided to install a catchpa.
