Is this only going to be for youtube? As this is a vague question given that some go to youtube some watch porn some go to myspace. From my own experience 5-6k+ visitors daily uses about 450gigs of bandwidth monthly

it its targeted to youtube, you need lots of BW as your site grow
however always start small and upgrade later on

This is definately true about where people go. I have a very heavy myspace presence on my youtube enabled proxies, and on 10-12K+ visitors daily, I'm looking at around 1400GB for the full month.

that's double the traffic, but triple the bandwidth, so you need to be very careful if you only have limited amounts of bandwidth...

Are there no good looking proxies then? Or are people ignoring what I asked?

Define a "good looking" proxy. As far as I know most just use ready made templates. If there are any good anesthetic looking sites; Perhaps hidemyass.com would be one. Of course its owned by Zymic.com and that guy is very good with webdesign and photoshop.

Anyone here think buying a proxy.org Bolded is good? If you have what is the geographic makeup of the traffic?
Mostly U.S, or international. Are the users ad-blind? To like they George bush? (joke :D)
    thanks =)

Why would a proxy user care about how it looks? They only want to get to their favourite blocked site, and if your proxy doesn’t do that they will never return, no mater how pretty it is.

Even if you spent ages making your proxy site look nice it will get blocked by websense, bluecoat, lightspeed (and the other 50 web filtering companies) within hours of going live anyway, so why waste your time.

i think u are counting only one way traffic only in that. my proxies used up 1.96TB bandwidth last month and noone of them have youtube capabilities.

so if you are going to enable youtube then you should better increase your estimates.

yeah i forgot about that and was only counting the one way. i have unmetered so i don't pay as much attention any more...

from the inbound/outbound ratio i'm seeing in the traffic graphs, total bandwidth will be more like 3TB on this server, which is pretty insane for the traffic moving through it. my other server doesn't have youtube enabled on it, and with nearly twice the traffic it'll have a hard time hitting 2.2TB...

Since no one replied I'll ask my question again:

Check out my new proxy, I just made it today: http://www.defeatblocks.info . However, I just can't decide on the template
. I think this one looks great but it has one downside: you can only encode URLs, turn scripts on / off etc when you already entered a URL.. you can't do it before you go to a website. Do you guys think this is a (major) downside or not?

I personally dont think so as I dont offer options on mine and I did not notice any decrease when I removed it. As for the design not my area best to ask to in the reviews area :)

FINALLY!!! I'm back! After just lurking around and can't reply to any thread in DP, i'm finnaly back.

Okay, I would go with glype. It has easy templating as well as some useful plugin. I would like to think Glype is the best PHP based proxy out there.

Half of my proxies are using PHProxy and half of them using Glype.
I'm going to use Glype for ALL my proxies in the future.
