youtube will crush your host if you are on a shared hosting and not specialized in proxies

The lastest version of CGIproxy supports flash which means it supports youtube. Unfortunetly no shared host wants to host your CGIproxies so you'll have to go dedicated.

Nah...for a couple months, you have top pay to get CGIproxy. Take it as an advanced copy as well as a donation. After that, it will be free again. You can read it on his site.

CGI Proxy is still free. I just installed a copy from here:

    http://install.xav.com/index.cgi

Just Pick James Marshall CGI Proxy, enter your FTP info & the above link installs it for you free of charge.

probably J's just assuming if one has thought about running a CGI proxy, one gotta have huge $ and credit card to afford 1 cgiproxy per server :eek::D

didnt g-checkout give out referral $ if someone who doesnt have it signup for it?
    maybe thats why too ;)

the paid and new version is just like the old one !

also does it again eat up the server resources? like the old versions?!

It supports flash and has lots of javascript fixes and better compatibility overall. This means MORE server resources. If you can't afford a good dual-core server with 2GB of ram, you can't afford cgiproxy.

if you must, go 2 max with mild traffic
but its betetr off to go with 1 because it uses CPU and resources alot and new one is more advanced so as thewird said, more resource usages.
