Yeah, i heard that few days ago too, even, on the period (Examine period of adsense when blacklisted) they will count stumbleupon visitors as autosurf visitors lol! Regards
That was all started by someone who bought a bunch of ads from proxy.org (bold and top10's) and then got banned from adsense and tried to get a refund from Baron and of course he refused. He then continued sending threats and eventually resorted to try to turning everyone against proxy.org . Anyone who followed it properly and didn't just hear from X person or read snippets knows roughly what went down. People have been banned from Adsense and not be on proxy.org . The reality is that there most likely isn't a click bot targeting proxies and if there was it was a very limited isolated incident. Google doesn't like foreign clicks and will smart price you and occasionally ban you if you get way to much. That is the reality with the whole scandal. It is really up to you what you believe though but you should do research and know 100% about whats going on before even mentioning something of that nature. On another note, something that most people did not know from that whole ordeal was that guy had 3-4 Adsense accounts which all got banned (him, wife, relatives). He was using all of them, what did he expect honestly. thewird
i earn about $20 for "6,911 shows CTR 3.46% " i don't know, just submit to topsite and some social booking site, then a few days later ,hava suddenly raise
A newbie question: How do I prevent my CGIproxy proxies from being hotlinked? .htaccess or do I have to modify something inside the code?
You can do both. Here's the htaccess method... DirectoryIndex FILENAME.EXT RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !YourDomain\.com [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !proxy\.org [NC] RewriteRule ^nph-info.mpl.(.+)$ /FILENAME.EXT? [R] Code (markup): thewird
If your listed there, you will be listed as defunct if you don't allow proxy.org . You can add other sites that you want to allow by copying it and inserting it below that one changing the domain of course. thewird
I see, so proxy.org requires that you allow hotlinking. I guess this doesnt' apply for paid listings though.
Looks like I found the goldmine thread of knowledgeable proxy owners. A question for you folks: I have problems USING proxies in that when I go to a site like Craigslist .. or any site that allows me to upload things like images .. the window that should popup allowing me to browse my hard drive never appears. I can click on the "add image" or whatever button on the website all I want, but the window never pops up. Is this a common problem when using proxies? Are there some proxies that won't block this? Or are there settings that I must manipulate before going to a website via the proxy? Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I was following this closely and as far as I remember this case I dont agree with you. There was no conclusion for sure about what happened. I believe that there may or may not have been click robots that found the proxies to click at proxy.org.
Finally got my new servers sorted out, thanks for the suggestions on here folks Opted for 2 servers got em both for total of $250 - 3TB/month One question i have is does anyone know if the Plesk limits for bandwidth use are Real or Visual? I've set some limits up so i don't get any unexpected traffic bills, but do these Plesk control panel limits work? Anyone used them before
I'm considering submitted to proxy.org again because I got a decent bit of traffic from that but after all the suspicion about the clickbot I'm not so sure, anyone listed on proxy.org and been using adsense for a while without any high amount of clicks etc?
The only thing that mattered after all that talk is that google didn't like what was going on and getting your traffic from proxy.org is a risk. andheresjohnny: There's only one reason why you'd want to do that.. sp360: It doesn't make sense to me why any webmaster would want users to be able to use youtube but you can find them. Look in the happy proxy thread or try google.
