    Wouldn't it bring the school network to a crawl filtering out say..20K domains names of proxies or whatever the ridiculous amount of them out there.?

    No the network firewall scanning threw a block filter file w/e with 20K entires of domains to block with each pageview of each computer on the Lan. lol

    Yeah that does seem like quite a large task. I think they use a proxy server on their network that takes all the requests and checks them over first.

    not to be blocked?

    do proxy by dedicated ip and redirect to about next ip 10 times or more.

    The filters will only pick up last ip in their system or cache, and you have chance of surviving for 10*how many months proxies usually survive

    :p (just a thought..havent try and do not really recommend haha)

    Proxy.org $20 links are crap. There are tons of proxies listed there. Those visitors who knows proxy.org do you think they will keep coming back to your proxy after your link is taken down or would they rather go straight to proxy.org and just pick another proxy. Think about it.
