okay, so as far as performance goes then, what kind of direct correlation would you draw between comparing a cgiproxy with mod_perl (but no squid, just a fairly basic setup) and a completely, and I mean pretty much every bloody file for the core script including a half dozen plugins that are encoded with ioncube ? i've always held off from cgiproxy due to it's reported additional cpu requirements, but if ioncube is putting that kind of strain on the processor, then does anyone know where i can get a decent variant of cgiproxy from to try out ?
If you offer a proxy related service and are interested in increased exposure for your product webproxytalk.com is accepting advertisers. If you think you could benefit from advertising on an established proxy forum, PM me. P.s. as the first advertisers the prices will be discounted.
The CPU usage for CGIProxy with mod_perl is actually fairly low (that is the point of mod_perl) however this comes at cost of ram usage. Also, a problem with using CGI+mod_perl is that the more domains you have on a server using CGI, the more ram each client will use. So basically if you want to run CGIproxy, ram is the bottleneck on most systems of balanced specs. Might also want to note that CGIproxy with mod_perl executes A LOT faster then phproxy so sites load quicker (assuming the server isn't overloaded). Without mod_perl CGIproxy is slow and a CPU hog. thewird
Can I run adsense referal ads on proxified pages? For example the banner with firefox, the banner doesnt show relevant ads depending of the content on the page. Or lets say the Google Search instead of the url form on the proxified pages Is this against TOS?
you can't put any adsense related on proxified pages . Say there are 20 users who did plan to sign up your referring ad and click on it, they'll all be coming from same ip. Adsense-G will not believe it and you risk of having your site or account banned.
Glype is probably better than any script you can buy right now. I haven't seen anyone saying they got into Adversal recently. I think they don't have enough room right now or something.
I cant seem to access their official DL site. Can you give link to mirror site so I can dl and see where to put ad?
IMO, dont go for adversals on proxy sites, their popup ads will annoy visitors away (plus they dont pay that well - their pays cant compensate annoyed customers) I put adversal before on my network and the traffic gradually decrease. Use adbrite or similar ad companies.
How about selling links on proxified pages? http://w2.hidemyass.com/index.php?q=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5wcml2YXgudXMvaXAtdGVzdC8=&hl=3ed "Free Web Hosting" (zymic) is first page for "Free Web Hosting" on Google. It wasn't that high before. Could this really be good for SEO?
I see surrofagier proxy can have TWO spaces for you to put Total FOUR 728x90 Banners on proxifid pages!! BUT you have to be VERY careful editing for Second place. First place: simple. Line 533 Add your ad code between body tag and start of form 2nd Place: make sure you do NOT add "" in your ad code..delete them Line 2100 After the word </script> add this NEVER add "". and do not delete the ' ' surrounding the </script>
And Zymic is a free template site, with "Free Web Hosting" linked on all templates. I disagree, the extra income out weighs the loss of visitors.
yes i cant argue that putting adversal will help you get extra income, but imagine you have no adversal, and the visitors you've lost will become your daily users. You will get more from than.
there are a number of issues with glype for any serious proxy network owner. 1. it's not actually GPL software, and although it is open source for now at least. that may change, and nick himself has even mentioned the fact that if no-one bothers to donate or licence the script, and keeps ripping out the required link back to glype.com, tries to sell it (do a search), he may look at closing it up... 2. licencing costs on a multi-ip server are prohibitive to remove the link back, and i dont like to advertise with a link to the script site exactly how it is i do what i do to my proxy users. 3. it's new. don't get me wrong, i know it's fantastic but it's still new, and there isn't really anyone around doing customisations for it yet, which means no full myspace compatibility, no facebook fix, .... site compatibility and fixes will happen over time, but points 1 and 2 are the deal breakers for me... okay, so with the ioncube phproxy script im running now, a core 2 e4300 2.0ghz server with 2GB of ram and a manageable 500MB odd swap file usage with minimal waits showing in vmstat, was able to scale to around 6000-7000 unique visitors a day without the server thrashing or grinding to a complete halt, although obviously it would be a bit slow. from your experiences with cgiproxy with mod_perl, do you have any idea how many unique visitors you've had to a similar sized server on any single day before the server starts to max out, thrash swap and start to be in wait states unacceptably ?
Can Show me a modded proxy that works to allow users to post comments on facebook? I don't think there is one. Glype works though to log into facebook fine. but commenting posting does not work. Glype works to log into myspace and you can post comments. Glype works on youtube with this plugin.
