It works for me. I don't think DreamHost allows proxies. You can find some trusted members offering proxy hosting here at DP, but the better option would be VPS or Dedicated Server.
CloakHost.com. I recommend them. The owner is a member here and is a pretty cool guy. I dont get why people always recommend VPS's. Those are so expensive for the purpose of a proxy. CloakHost does a good job of keeping your site online and moving fast.
VPS's are cheap, dedicated hosting are cheap! Just get a dedicated box for 30-50/month and you'll earn that much in return, easily. Buy 15 domains, and you're set.
Your proxy will be gone in a week or two from any shared host depending on how much traffic you get and the amount of resources your site uses.
Thanks for the response. So, it looks like there isn’t anything one could do to prevent a proxy from being shut down, as it is entirely out of your hands. So, what is the likely hood that your proxy won’t be shut down? I’m just wondering how good of a long term investment these things are. I realize the money isn’t much, but, from what I have seen, maintenance doesn’t involve much either (once you get it started).
Before January 2nd my site was getting 140-190 visits a day, since then it's had 270-280+, has anyone else seen a rapid increase?
my traffic wasn't that great today only about 800 impressions but i did make close to 9$ with it, but the day isn't over!
I just put Canep Media on my proxy and there is no ads showing. Anyone else using this, Do they not have any advertisers?
I used to get lots of spamcop complaint emails and almost got shut down. The main problem was people acessing sites like cox.net or bellsouth.net and sending spam. Try to access cox.net from any of my proxies (ie. siteproxy.org) and you will see
Other than that, you haven't had any problems with being shut down? I just want to know the likelyhood of a proxy being shut down.
Hi, I'm considering starting up a proxy site, so I got a few questions: You are talking about that your proxy websites are getting banned. But by whom? Google, Myspace, Your host? Am I allowed to use Adsense on a proxy site?
I was trying out my proxy earlier but it seems that full page ads from AdBrite don't work that well with proxies. They seem to break out of the proxy after being displayed. Anyone tried it before?
Go forward by around 10 pages and start reading. You should be able to find most answers inside this thread.
