yes someone can do hotlinking to your site and stealing bandwidth the can link to images to your site hand theu dont use his own bw you can protect from that in the control panel of your hosting
I have blocked a bunch of ip's from China using .htaccess Now, is it possible to disable hotlinking but allow certain images, ie. my link exchange button and banner to be hotlinked?
Do you mean your diskspace is increasing? If it is then you have caching on, Glype has this. I wouldn't use unless you reguraly delete the files or it'll get huge.
I don't know about Zelune, check your folders on your server and see if any of them are filling up with files.
Wow... Proxy business look interesting. I am new to proxies so would appreciate if someone can advise.. 1) when your proxy site is blocked, would your hosting account be banned eventually also? Should we use hosting companies that specialise in hosting proxies only? 2) if your proxy site hosted on an IP is blocked, would other sites hosted on the same IP be affected/blocked also? 3) Would your Adsense account be banned if your proxy site is blocked/banned? Merry Xmas and Happy New year 2008 to everyone!
If you disk space is increasing then it must be because of your stats. And as you are using zelune (who dont have any hotlink protection by default), have you implemented the php hotlink protection? I dont think so for why your bandwidth is increasing too
http://www.findproxy.org/blog/how-to-stop-hotlinking-on-zelune-proxy-script/ With whom are you hosted? Try blocking your chinese traffic too, there are few hosts like Hagiohost, Cloakhost who allows you to use mod_geoip to block Chinese traffic with a few lines code.
Hey thats interesting. COuld something like that be installed on a VPS? or would you need dedicated to install a apache Module?
Its fun to get into them in my opinion..... 1) no they wont cancel your account, or they shouldnt. The schools just run programs to block you, they dont report you.....But you have to make sure your hosting plan allows proxies...most dont. 2)Yes it will....but its only blocked at that school or place of work. 3)No, but you cant put adsense on the proxified pages, use adbrite for those, check my sig for the info on that. Good Luck and also dont buy a proxy, you can get the template free and the code, its easy... jason
Hello, I was thinking about starting a proxy site, but I have some questions before I do that. If I use a free proxy template, can I sell links on the website? What are some good, free ways of advertising a proxy? Is there anything I should know before starting a proxy site? Can I run the proxy on a free webhost? How much bandwith and space would I need? Thanks,
#4. lol I hope your joking?... Proxies use bandwidth by Gigabytes a day (depending how may minutes, or Hours your visitors surf on your proxy_. No free host would allow this. You will have get a vps or dedicated. Shared hosting is not recommened either as you will hog all the resources on the server and get there IP banned and screw over all the sites that clients of that hosting company are paying for and you'll probably get kicked.
1. Yes 2. Submitting to any topsites, groups, directories, etc. I have provided a small list below. 3. Sometimes you'll notice that bandwidth goes really high so be sure to have at least 100-200 GBs on hand. 4. Don't try free webhosts, they wouldn't provide what you need. Space at least 500 MBs and bandwidth at least 100 GBs should do you if you're starting out, then you'll need more as time goes on.
