The Proxy Discussion Thread

A robots.txt file is essential to stop googlebot spidering websites through your proxy. If this happens your proxy will steal other peoples pagerank. This REALLY pisses some people off.... its will also REALLY waste your bandwidth, but thats not the point.

I have seen flame threads in other sections of this forum where people are discussing the possibility of taking legal action against proxy owners who let this happen. Whiles its unclear if legal action *could* be taken, It still tars us all with the same brush and gives the proxy industry (if you can call it that) a bad name.

In other words... use a robots.txt. file.... Glype proxy comes with one by default for the above reasons.

 

how do I know what to put inside the robots.txt

 

To no index proxified pages glype script use this robots.txt:
User-agent: Mediapartners-Google*
Disallow:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /browse.php

glype proxied pages begins for browse.php, like this
domain.com/browse.php?u=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5nb29nbGUuY29tLw%3D%3D&b=31

 

when the school and work begin in US and UK ? ( related to our proxies the question )

doesn't make any sense to me, what the hell do vegetables have to do with proxys?

 

CGIproxy is the best proxy script but needs at least a dedicated server since its server intensive, especially if you don't know how to optimize it.

What does 99% of proxy names have to do with proxies?

Hey guys.. Looking for an opinion as to where you suggest to host proxies... i got about 10-15 that im setting up and looking for reliable hosting!

 

You need to get a VPS with 512 mb ram and above 200GB Bandwidth, It will cost you around 30$ - 40$ with control panel - lxadmin.

I gathered that i needed around that.. what im looking for is recommendations as where to host it.. so the actual companies

 

200GB BW is nothing for 10-15 proxies, he needs 400-500GB ATLEASE
