I don't think many people have gone to the extent of doing it. I would suggest trying it then letting us know if it is monetizable by putting some ads on the page other than the '404 - page not found' stuff

i asked what people do with their 404 traffic, how do they monetize that

 

You can always use buy404s.com

 

or you can redirect them to your home page instead and get more adsense exposure

 

Which script shall i use to make my visitors able to do login into orkut????

 

i'm not sure if this is such a good idea... maybe i'm wrong though but if someone is hotlinking... you let them abuse your server... no?

 

I have came up with a new Idea on how to get free proxy traffic so i started my own proxy channel on MIRC. All users in my channel will get there link posted in the topic for free. I am looking for proxy owners to come in the channel and chat with all proxy members. Also I will have some new things for the channel in a few days. I am sure this will help your traffic. please give it a try

I use Glype. It works alright with facebook and probably with orkut too.

 

4 dollars for 1000 visits, thats a cpc of .004, I could think of a lot better things to do then sell it off at a rate of .004 cpc like shoot it to your new proxy or other site. Maybe even very well done Ad page.

 

i agree, you might as well leave it blank then .004

 

Hi all,

I just bought 2 networks with 25 proxies each. The previous owner said he was on a dedicated server that cost him $104/month but he was also running 5 networks with a total of 150 proxies. I bought 2 of the last 3 that he was selling.

In any event, he said there were months he would average 90 bucks a day! However, he said he had to reboot his server all the time. His server had 1500gigs bandwidth. I have 1/3 of the proxy sites he had and am hoping to nail it in at $30 a day, but I'll be happy going .10 at a time.

Is there a suggested proxy host I should use? Should I go dedicated? I talked to a guy at hostparlor and he said I should go with their reseller account, the max has 480g bandwidth. Should I go dedicated right off the bat or try this reseller package (hostparlor.com)?

If you have a better suggestion for a host, please advise.

I use to have about 2-3K iranian and chinese hits everyday(now blocked). If only I'd redirected them to buy404, that'd have been a nifty $12 or so every day - guess i'm just a lazy piece of shite

 

I'm prolly switching to wdservers.com after the holiday break by which time I'll have a good list and set up about a dozen new proxies - you might wanna try them.

 

Your best bet is to go with a dedi or a vps server. You would run into probs with shared hosting.

 

Any suggested hosts?

 

If your making that much why are you going cheap on the hosting? You realize if your server goes down for one day 90% of your traffic will move elsewhere.

I'm not making anything yet. I just acquired the domains and am looking to find the appropriate hosting solution without spending a truckload from the start. Probably looking for a host who will grow with me.

 

Did you buy domains that used to run proxies or are they still running? The amount of domains isn't important in deciding what hosting you want. You have to look at the amount of traffic and what server would support that traffic.
