the proper layout of a site that involves categories/states/cities. Is the layout of categories/states/cities acceptable as a directory structure? Where do you put in the keyword articles that are a combo of a city and a category? i.e. car types; car dealeres in states and cities. how do lay that out??

I'd actually go with a combination of a subdomain and directory structure here.

For example, example.com/category/state/city/listing.html would become category.example.com/state/city/listing.html

Go ahead and submit them, but always make sure you include a link back to the page on your site that has the article (not the home page). If the article directory/site won't let you do that, then link to your home page instead.

If it won't even let you do that, RUN AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK. (In other words, go somewhere that will let you link back). There is an interesting video about this you may want to watch:
