The problem with the Rep system...

When you say anything that's an opinion that someone else disagrees with they're quick to red rep you.. what are we supposed to do not have opinions?

When you help a noob they don't know about giving you rep, or complete a business transaction with another member.. they're quick to forget.

Needless to say, Just from stating my own opinions in the "stopping terrorist" thread and other places I've been red repped... Not that I would mind too much as long as there was balance for every time i've helped (or tried) to help another member... one more red and I'll be lower than the starting point :(

I've bought and sold smooth and successfully here with members 5-6 times now, and I don't want to end up with a red rep effecting those people's decisions...

99% of the rep is given out by 1% of the users,

You can get red here for doing nothing, and you can make fantastic posts, and receive no rep at all. You don't grab me as someone who will make it to red, so don't fret about it....

It would be better if it wasn't anonymous if you ask me, I should at least be able to confront the people making comments like "rack of rylene" ...

I really don't care about getting 4 green squares next to my post count, I just dont want it to be red and have potential buyer/sellers keep away b/c of it. In the end it's all a voting system anyway so hopefully things will even out over time..

And to the person who just red repped me for this post.... maybe you've forgotten what the "suggestions and feedback" forums are for...

Sorry I didn't attach my own comments to someone elses old 10-20 page long (and off topic) post about something similar.

The problem with the rep system is people complaining about it. At SitePoint they even disabled the rep system because of the people whining about how they got negative rep (I had 550 rep points (6 rep pips), and 14 power points -- pretty heavy punch).

Don't sweat the rep so much and you will do fine. I find that you have had good input on a few threads, and it seemed I even repped (green) for it before. But on this thread you are lucky I didn't red rep you cause I am tired of these rep threads myself.

I will pretend I didn't see you and will go on about my business now...

Just assume that you're going to get at least two red rep's for posting in threads like that.

And don't start any more threads like this. :D

Voice an opinion and you get de-reped. Do 'shameless behaviour' and you GET rep! Go figure!!! :D I think every one will admit that I've done a lot of ahem... 'shameless behaviour' in the past. Right!! :D *Think GoogleGuy, images, and virgin.* :D About the only help I give is related to mod_rewrite! Yet I got 82 points...er I did have 82! :D

just be you... dont change your opinions for rep. I give more props to people that stick there pecker out cause they have a strong opinion about something then someone who waits in the weeds and never says anything
