    That depends on what type of advertising your doing. You can get organic search engine traffic for free and if your content is good people will sign up. You could also write articles about your forum and submit them to directories for free.

    I was thinking of using Adwords to "drive targeted traffic" to my website, to get a good result how much should i be wiling to pay?

    i dont think adwords driven traffic will help to promote your forum. YOu should hire some posters to post in your forums. and try to post unique and interesting post so members attract to post in your forum. you can go for posting competition also.

    That's a real "how long is a piece of string" question. You set your own budget, so it's up to you what you can afford, and whether it's worth the cost to you.

    $200 is seems to be low budget, it is batter to go for some SEO things or promote it as i mentioned before.

    200 is probably only 500 - 600 clicks - of these dont expect many to stick? I would recommed learning seo techniques prior to spending any ££££
