Usually $1.5 per 100 words is good for a beginner

That price is too low. And you are thinking of lowering it? I charge $45 per article of the same length and clients who expect quality have no problem in paying.

Always write about what you know best. The going rate for articles does seem to be pretty low these days.

Creativity has no price at all in every field, same case with Content Writing.

Price for creativite content depends upon its own quality plus the bugdet and understanding skill of buyer about this field of creativity

I'm sorry to say that if you are a non-native English speaker, the prices you can charge are not as high. Our SEO company has been hired several times to re-write content that came from "content factories" in India or Malaysia. The content just didn't make sense, although there was the correct number of nouns and verbs - they didn't go together to make sense. Now we do not ever hire anything but native English speakers. Frankly, although I have a good knowledge of French, I would be up against the same problems if I tried to write business French articles.

Price is typically gaged on experience, professionalism and quality of your article writing. If your good enough you could charge loads!

Right. The more experience you get in writing especially when it's according to the niche that you're an expert of is always an advantage for you to charge more since you ensure the quality of contents that you're going to write for them.

Practice often and see which topics will you find it easy and interesting the most and gain more expertise. That way, you could also hunt for those targeting for a specific niche and better in a long term basis that allows you to weigh your prices.

No, I'm not a native English speaker, but I can write good quality articles. May be not top-notch, but articles that can be understood easily by any average English reader. The point is not about the writer origin but about how much you pay. You paid $1 for 300 word article, you got what you paid for. I know those factories and I know how much they are charging.

you get what you paid for.

Dig deep; don't be scared to price yourself. Know your work's worth and people (buyers) will respect you for it and give you your sweat's worth. Of course, you have to stay true to yourself and to your client/s all the time.

I started out at $0.005 per word here in DP, and now I'm getting more than that - way more. Well, probably because I never ceased to improve my work and learn everything I can. Let your work speak for itself - it's that simple sometimes. Now I'm proud to say I blog for no less than 1800Flowers.com among many others. Ferrari?... Yes, I did too.

Thank you DP for honing my copywriting skills!

Well, I'm a client. I've several long term writers working for me and I always keep an eye on the 'Content Creation' section hoping to find one or more reliable writers (being more difficult these days). I like the writers to offer me competitive but not 'cheap' rates. After being scammed several times here in DP, now I have no interest in those who offer a rate at $0.01/word or below. I know there're certainly excellent writers that offer cheap rates like that. But you should be extremely lucky to dig out the gold. For any business, the basestone of a long term partnership is mutual benefits. From the client side, I really don't expect a writer to quote me a damn cheap price, although I'm not financially strong. Respect yourself and be confident, don't fear that your honest rate based on the quality job will frighten away your customers.

Agreed, I would think that $ 0.01 per word would be perfectly acceptable.

I don’t know what other say, but according to me “value for money” is all I provide. And moreover, I don’t believe in “cheap n best” coz either it can be “cheap @bad quality” or “best @reasonable price tag”. For 400 words content I charge around 5-7$ coz content originality, proper keyword research, proper keyword density and other various SEO features are taken into account.

    Perry:

Thanks, I can often count on you to give me a smile.

Now let me put in a real shocker, however I know how many doubters this will start blowing smoke rings out their ear. I am not going to provide the source, as I have not yet seen an actual copy of the quality. All, I can say is that if one large company can do it, another can also. Please people do not shoot the messenger, as this will currently effect "writers", mostly those charging $10.00 or less. The assassin is just emerging. Years ago it attacked chess. That job slayer is right near almost every readers face.

Enough of the riddle (riddler?) Holy cow, the attacker is a computer with artificial intelligence. Purpose? Write out logical 500 word articles on a subject, with perfect English, and put the keywords, and keyword phrases all in the correct spots. Almost any topic, with a price of $15.00, and every article will be checked not only through a Copyscape like program, but the more deadly 650+ (and growing) Google stop words. Since the buyer of the article supplies the topic and keywords, how can it go wrong?

Odesk, themselves, (as a middleman broker) sells articles of lower quality, for $10.00. So with a starting rate of $15.00, with the computer made article, being a grade up, is going to be ending some careers. However, they cannot guarantee creativity, uniqueness, and really deep Google research. So those article writers getting over $20.00 an article should have no current fear. Remember do not shoot the messenger. If you do not believe me, do not a thing and wait. If you see the future is now arriving, start learning to greatly increase your writing qualities.
