In been writing 2 articles per day for the last 6-7 days average and come to think of it, min words is 250 and I've already got 16 lined up for approval. I know that some of the articles are about 350 words. Thats 250 words x 16 = 4000 word. I probably have 5000 words altogether. Thats equivalent of a quarter of my dissertation done in 6 days I wish I can do that for my dissertation. Have you done anything thats surprised you yet or are you so far from it it's comes natural ? Maybe it's a beginners thing ? Michael Nguyen
I agree. It is amazing what one can achieve when your determined and focussed. Last year i was doing a course on retail management. (its called TAFE here in oz basically the USA community college equiv)Had i decided to keep going this year i would graduate with a diploma. The course is broken into modules. We basically get a "training manual" with questions which we have to type up into whats called a "portfolio" title page/contents appendices that sorta thing. Average number of questions is around 30-70. Each response i would usually write around 200-300+ words. One particular unit i was working on at end of last year "buying merchandise"(covered things from contacting suppliers, establishing relationships, ordering etc etc) total number of q's 76..i still havent completed it becuase i got burnt out. but so far i've written 20,000 words!! The other work i did submit got a measly pass when i had been achieving high distinctions..so yea i'm burnt out. What a waste of my time. 40,000 words in 4months and all i get is pass for the 2 units i submitted. And my responses were well researched, unlike the unintelligible drivel put out by the course coordinator/lecturer's pet. Anyhow aside from my rant..i was quite surprised i hit 20,000 words when usually I'm quite blunt in what i write and speak. Perhaps i should have gone to uni? LOL I know i can write once i get going and its definitely easier when i know the subject. As for your dissertation, use what you've learnt in your list building efforts and apply to your uni. Break down your dissertation into smaller chunks. Write a small chunk each day after you've written your articles. That way you'll be in 'writing mode'. may i ask what's your dissertation and degree?
Yes, it is amazing. I know when I get a site that starts doing well it drives the crap out of me! Brings my focus up twofold. GD
I have to admit i have been amazed at myself on the odd accassion, i mean i have excelled myself with how did i do thats,
Yeah, I used to have some real motivation problems, but learning combined with earning money is a great motivator!
I'm more motivated than ever now. I now have 20 articles lined up ready for approval. 1 has got approved. I can't put those remaining 19 to waste now. my final year dissertation is a script that answers questions on how to make money online. Lots of people say that people like doing questions / surveys so I'm using that as a lead generation tool. you can check out what im on about here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1150287 the degree is BSc Computing
It is amazing what we can do when we set our mind to specific goals. I love writing with a passion and find it flows easily. But then sometimes writer's block sets in and I have to clear my mind to let my muse wake back up. It all works out in the end.
ahh. I can kinda see why you might be finding it hard to write the dissertation. I am assuming the dissertation has to be written as a explanation to your project? In art we called it a justification. (not that high school art can be compared to a computing degree). obviously I'm making alot of assumptions here, but i want to help. Your actually helping me become more motivated. Write a chunk a night. Don't think of the length of it. krolbiz, yes i agree. I realise my mind power must be a lot weaker than i thought. It's hard having a family that thinks i need to get a 'real job'. You'd think that would push me forward, instead i just feel crushed. I just keep telling myself -"keep going, keep trying".
