Interesting article. I especially liked the part about how other search engines are trying to find a way to index these "invisible" pages, but Yahoo is just charging for it. Greedy bastards :)

There are many databases that must be paid for to access, such as Dun & Bradsteet and LexisNexis, Google can not give you everything nor can any other engine.

PS: Wendy beware of Minstrel, he may make you a moderator over there and we would miss you

That is a real joke. That one line out of the article is not representative of what the article discussed nor did it mention who these so called experts were or if they might just be figments of the writers imagination.

No Mel most of your long winded posts are a joke that have a lot of words in them but have little real value to most readers

Then if you believe thats the case may I respectfully request that you don't respond to my posts. That would be very pleasant IMO.

I practice what I preach and make a very good living at it. YMMV.

You mean being insulting and condescending? How much does that pay, Mel?

That is what I have been telling him for a long time, if Mel could just state his case without trying to make judgments on the motives of the other posters he would be great.

A personal attack on the person you are debating or calling his post a joke is not decent conversation or debate.

Mel wants to be right at all times. I know a lot of people like that. That is where the conversations become pointless because you will never find common ground because there is no desire to on the other end.

I too have studied psych back in the days and to Mel it is not about the subject matter but getting a kick out of winding people up :)

LOL what a great bunch of responses -Let me respond to each -

Thank you Mistrel that is a perfect exampel of the pot calling the kettle black is it not?

I have made no personal attacks on anyone ( if you think otherewise please point it out to me) but I assume that when a post like that is made by a person who seems otherwise intelligent, that it must be a joke and really not worth discussion. In this case a report by an unkown reporter whose experise and exerience is totally unknown, quoting unnamed experts without reference IS a joke when it is quoted in a serious vein.

You should never have dropped out of college as if you had not you might be aware that thinking you know someone after the exchange of a few posts is really quite inane.

Of course I would like to be right all the time, but I realize that will not always happen, but would like to see some semblance of fact in posts that are made, rather than simply putting out opinions as facts with no thought beforehand. I get no pleasure from "winding people up" but I really find it intolerable when supposition is stated as fact.

As to the subject matter, try posting something that you can back up with facts or at least a modicum of evidence, and you might find that you can change peoples opinions, including mine.

Mel you should be a comedy writer, you would do much better than you are with SEO

You seem to think that you are more of an expert than college professors and information industry executives when it comes to the percentage of the world's information that search engines have indexed and can make available to their users.

Wake up Mel, I can provide many more articles on this subject if need be if you want to be proved further wrong

I hate to do this Mel because as you know I do have some consideration for you as a fellow member and I do think that you are knowledgeable on SEO issues.

You just have a way of hurting yourself, do you walk on broken glass everyday for fun Mel

I don't think we have any interest in changing your mind, Mel. At least in my case, I don't have any interest in conversing with you at all -- it's a waste of breath.

You're "seeing hard posts all over the place" because we're seeing more than the usual share of trolls today, Fryman.

Yeah... people can get cranky about real estate when they have a long weekend to think about it

More seriously, I think it's because it is a long weekend and the kids are out of school and have an extra day before they have to worry about homework... or maybe they've just had too much sugar.
