As a lot of you know I started a case study just over a month ago, to display the power of blog commenting. And guest what, the results are in! The Results
agreed. I've provided a free list of high pr blog. and I've a service for paid members. Check it out if interested in my signature
Great study and thanks for sharing it. It's interesting how this activity has to be honest, i.e. not-spamming, in order to "work" as a money/traffic making scheme it's sort of ambiguous in it's intention.
In my opinion Blog posting is too time consuming. The only way you can do this level of commenting and posting is if you are using a sweat shop in India. Google will eventually drop sites and users like this because it will start looking at the frequency of links coming from Blogs. It's better to invest time in getting quality links from indirectly related sites and also spend some time writing quality articles in my opinion.
It's because of comments like that I took up this challenge, and I think I've dispelled that myth so far.
Thank you for doing such experiment - it gives us more knowledge about SEO and how does it work PS Did you post on dofollow blogs only or didn't care is it a dofollow or nofollow blog?
Blog commeting is useful, since it provides you with a free backlink (which is sometimes very strong). On the other hand, as someone said earlier, it's time consuming. But if you focus on related blogs, you should be okay.
Blog commenting can be super powerful in certain situations. Let's say I'm targeting a keyword on my site, and when I look at the results for that keyword in Google, several blogs come up. Those blogs each have an article or review that is optimized for the keywords I want to go after. So I offer comments on those blogs JUST ON THOSE PAGES of the blog where my keyword is optimized. If you get in at the end of the comment string you can grab loads of traffic. People visit the blog, they're already interested in your keyword (which would ideally be a product name), they scan down the comments and frequently check out the last comment or two. Even if you're somewhere else in the comments queue like first or in the middle, you'll grab very targeted organic traffic directly to your site. In that case, the comments on the blog function as a kind of "presell" and get people even more interested in buying the product you're promoting. Also just taking an hour or two to make decent comments on personal blogs with decent page rank, or hobby/niche blogs related to your niche, helps to increase traffic and organic linkings. I don't like to just get links within my niche because that doesn't look organic. I like to mix things up and comment on humor, news, and hobby sites unrelated to my niche. Works very well to boost traffic and ranking in Google. Dan

Blog commenting can be very effective. You don't need to go and post on every single blog, or spend hours and hours on it every day. You find a few good blogs and do it regularly. It will add up over time.
Blog commenting can be effective but it can also be a large waste of time. If you create long thought out comments to post on each blog it will be incredibly effective for gathering traffic and possibly gaining blogroll links from the blog owners, but if you just spam it will eventually get your reputation destroyed via Akismet.
TakeThat said that about 95% of his comments were actually made on sites with nofollow enabled, so that's a pretty amazing traffic he's achieved! His test was more about generating traffic rather than building backlinks for PR. The traffic is what most of us struggle with. Having high PR with only few visits to our site wouldn't be enough to monetize a site especially if you rely on PPC revenue like AdSense.
