The power of an aged LLLL.com

I have a 5 year old blogspot blog that I use for my small business locally.
I recently purchased a 7 year old 4L .com with no links to it.
I forwarded it to my business blog and now the LLLL.com is outranking my site for almost all of its keywords.

This doesnt really bother me Im just curious as to why the forwarded domain appears higher in search results than the actual site that is optimized for those keyword searches.

I did some research before posting here and seems like the general consensus is that aged domains dont hold any more weight than a site newer domain with keywords and seo.

Is it the power of an aged domain, the fact that its a LLLL.com or just a fluke?

    thanks for your input
