Chow is known for three reasons: 1) he shows off how much he earns a month, 2) he takes photos of his lunches, 3) he does paid reviews. There is nothing else that he can be considered an expert in.

If I were looking for an internet comparison to Warren Buffet I'd say the Google guys or the Facebook guy... At least they're up there in the billions in relation to wealth...

I did read the article, but I think saying "John Chow is Warren Buffet" indicates that John Chow is Warren Buffer (in online industry/online marketing/whatnot) and that sounds bit.... exaggerated statement

In that article... you mention:

It's not like John has the power to take down Google (in fact - he got google slapped pretty badly...) when in the other hand Buffet's (monetary) influence can be enormous depending what he chooses to do. (Including buying Google and telling them to give John back his status - your next article should be "Warren Buffet is John Chow" )

Sure, John & Shoe have some power in the online money making industry... but only the power we give them.

Iif somebody mentions "one article got us $40,000" it really doesn't mean all his articles could/would do that. It can be true, but likewise it can be hype.

Anyway... your article got attention from people, so that's a good thing for you

 

Thank you for taking the time to read it GameProducer. What I'm saying is what John makes is astronomical as is what Buffet makes, they are both the top of their niches.

John and Shoe don't have the power to affect google, but they do have the power to effect a lot of other people...

 

I love these type of threads - one slip of the keyboard and its flame wars - people forget about the original post and jump on anything that is said afterwards.

we all agree that john chow etc is not as rich as google or Buffet!

But do we agree / not agree that john chow or say Darren Rowse are very influential sites/people in relation to the internet and how people make money ( after all 99% of sites are just shop windows )

I have to say that john and darren are read by pro bloggers and people in the "business" and in turn mould how the internet is feed to the masses.

while i agree with some of game produsers responses i think the posts in the thread clearly say that chow is not buffet or anywhere near his status.

Will there has been a lot of hype in relation to probloggers like chow, after the hype has died down they still get massive traffic and massive respect. comon guys john chow 2.5k - 4k in alexa, hes hardly a small player.

I like your style game producer, although we agree to disagree you obviously know your stuff !

Hehee, maybe - but the TITLE of the thread (and the post) says: "John Chow is Warren Buffet" - and I got stuck in that statement like an elephant in mud.

Anyway... I'll agree that these guy have certain influence, and have done good job and whatnot... that's it

The article is titled like such to create controversy and create traffic. I actually wrote a follow up post the next day about good post titles. Look how many heads turned because of the title.
