There are various facets of Search Engine Optimization, but I sometimes wonder what the actual point of it is. I understand it is to pull in high SERP ratings, and if that is the case, then the deeper meaning of SEO would be traffic (Organic SE traffic) but does that include other forms of traffic as well? A link from a related PR10 site is the best link. Yes! But does that mean I should ignore a valid PR0 link? A link from any related site is good. YES! But I should also enjoy any link, right? "Content is King" seems to be a common catch phrase, but I also hear people saying to submit articles to directories. Wouldn't such content be better on my own page(s)? I mean, wouldn't an article on my own page be better overall? If written well it can result in 'link bait' that would be counted as a 'deep link' to my main page. Isn't that better then outsourcing to another site, so they can get more deep links? As a webmaster, shouldn't I be focusing on my own site, and collecting valid links (any links) rather then gifting content to sites that are doing nothing but collecting ad revenue and links to my writings?
Search Engine Optimization obviously means: making sure you get traffic from search engines. That doesn't mean other forms of online marketing aren't also valid. No. But you should not pay for a pr0 link either. Any link you can get is great, but the trusted high pr ones are the ones worth fighting for Sure. Enjoy them - but again, don't fight too hard for them Personally I agree. But for business sites it also makes sense to write articles for high profile online magazines - that's good public relations, and it gets a trusted link. It really depends on the kind of site you have.
No, it is not just any traffic, it is about traffic that convert. i don't think anyone submit content that are already on their own site (duplicate content). People usually submit article with lower quality cause all they care is the link juice
