My site isn't monetized and won't be for sometime. I haven't read a lot on partnerships... what I know is if you make money you can donate a percentage to a nonprofit to show how you are helping the community at large. What other beneficial examples of partnerships are there? I need them for the future.
Strategic Patnerships i.e. team up with someone who does something better then you and let them provide that service while you provide something you are good at. Example; bit.ly provides URL shortened links on Twitter which is a strategic patnership as bit.ly are good at shortening links and provide data on clicks etc whilst Twitter is good at 140 characters
Oh yea.. these days getting a perfect partner is a very important in online business. Traffic is getting scattered everywhere and partnerships pay a big part in diverting/focusing them to make profits for everyone. I hope i made my point. ekks.
I'm a little confused here. First you said Then you said What does the latter have to do with the first?
By donating to nonprofits you show that your company cares about the community. Also being welcomed to their events is important. The community responds to involvement. It is a beneficial situation for all.
As a webmaster i thinks partnership is exchange links with others websites, or exchage banner ads with them!
I love creating partnerships. The key is to find out what you can offer (that you'd normally charge for), and what your partner can offer you (that they would normally charge for). Figure out partnerships with a good synergy in which you can propose that both parties benefit and you have a win/win situation. Depending on what you can offer will affect what you can expect in return. Build solid relationships with media and webmasters and treat them well. Aim for personalized relationships so that if the partnership doesn't prove to be profitable they may be more willing to work with you again.
Partnerships are the key to creating regular content that is high quality and very targeted. For example, my partner at Blogussion is incredible with design and is an amazing freelancer while I have much more experience in marketing. So it is a good balance. When it comes to services we do not compete, He does freelance design and I do blog consultation. When you find a partner that you like and who is extremely capable and reliable it is always a win/win
There always has to be a business reason for each partnership you get involved in. I've seen gaming server companies partner with gaming clans/teams that are well-known in their community. Therefore, the server company benefits by targeting a market that might be interested in renting servers from them, while the team benefits by getting a discount on a server or maybe even getting one for free. Therefore, both parties have to benefit. I own SpicaCasts.com and am working on a possible partnership / affiliate relationship with a company that does spica cast clothing. I don't have the ability to offer clothing right this minute, so it might work out since I have the targeted audience they want to sell to, and I might benefit a little financially through the partnership. In a nutshell, both parties have to benefit somehow.
"In a nutshell, both parties have to benefit somehow." That says it all right there. Partnerships can go beyond simple affiliate links. Creative thinking on how to get involved with one another in a situation that is a benefit for both is what a partnership is all about... long term or short term.
