I've just received news from my webhost that The Planet is facing some network issue... now, all my sites are down..:(
Anyone else here is hosted in The Planet's data centers? Can you confirm if the center is down?

Mine were down until about 15 minutes ago. Offline for about an hour. I was editing a site when it hit and after 15 minutes, finally submitted a trouble ticket.

They responded that the planet was having some network troubles in one of it's datacenters.

I'm just wondering, how many sites are affected because of this? The Planet being one of the big data centers should host quite a large number of sites, I believe...:(

The host I use has at least 50 (probably more) servers there. I have accounts on three of them. Mine are back up again...for the moment.

My biggest concern is the oft discussed approaching google update. I'd hate for months of hard work to be lost because my site was unreachable a day or two before an update. That's probably far fetched, but it crossed my mind.

All my sites were down for about an hour due to Hurricane Electric .. I don't pretend to know how all those systems affect each other.

All I know is my hosting provider was quick to shift the blame ;)

You guys should move all your sites away from ThePlanet.com because they were the source of worms and viruses hitting the forums when they were being attacked.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=6793

Minstrel did some research when the attacks on the forums were happening and found out most of the attacks were being done from Turkey but that the hackers sites were being served from ThePlanet.com

    http://www.bandofgonzos.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1881

Move on and find a better host before the government shuts this host down for criminal activities.

I'm not on The Planet....It is a problem much higher up the line and is affecting 1000s of hosts

I have 3 different hosts and all are affected.

Even some of the Google Datacenters are having issues - "Page cannot be displayed"

Could be something like UUNET (MCI) with network problems, last time this happened in the states big sites like Google and Yahoo were having problems because Akami had some trouble.

Logging in to see it would be the least time consuming part of the thread! I was on page 8 of the comments and finally just clicked the "last" link. Up to 51 pages in that thread as of this post.

Hundreds of people having the same problems. One post mentioned 6 of the datacenters were offline and that five are back. Of course, everything was happening and being posted faster than I could read the comments.

Seems it was (is?) a huge problem with The Planet. My sites are back as of this post. I'm seeing a number of comments towards the end referring to power outage, but cannot find a good source yet.

There are the typical "victims" whose lives have gone down the drain because of a three hour outage. Some conspiracy theories, etc. Hopefully all is resolved.

The Planet sucks and supports criminal organizations and should be shut down anyway, everyone should find new hosts because they are hosting virus writers and malware sites.

I hope they get shut down by the government and Minstrel will comment on these criminals soon.

I would actually be happy about their current problems if it wasn't that so many other non related hosts (like mine) were affected by whatever this issue is.

My sites seem to be stabilizing and google bot has come back but theplanet and its hosted sites are still down
