Whats your perfect pc configuration to suit you day to day activity? and how many times have you upgraded to a new pc?

    ~~

My ideal pc configuration should be:
    - 80-100GB HDD
    - 1GB Ram
    - Processor abv 2 Ghz

sound card, video card etc as default, I am not into gaming and loud music.

I got myself a PIV say around 7-8months back, before that I had a PIII from 4-5 yrs - still have it. changed coz PIII got damaged! only 2 upgrades till now!

If I would get a new pc I'd get one of those multi-core cpu's with at least 2GB of RAM, 4 HDD's in a redundand RAID config. The case would be a zalman fanless case. (no noise !) The gfx card would need to be able to support 3 monitors.

    My computer history :
    - Apple2 clone
    - commodore 64
    - 286 16mhz and 4 Megs of RAM ;)
    - 386 40mhz and a 19.200 baud modem. Was I happy at the time :D
    - 486 66mhz
    - Pentium 133mhz with a voodoo gfx card. Man did i think quake ran fast back then
    - Pentium 2
    - Amd Athlon
    - and finally my current one : Pentium 4 (2800Mhz)

    you are right humm

if you are not in gaming stuff or video editing stuff then the config you mentioned are really up to mark

but as far as i think if one go to market to arrange things to assemble machine i dont think one will take processor of 2 ghz coz there is a littile difference in prices of 2 ghz processor and 3 ghz

all this applies to hdd, dvd combos etc.(as per indian market)

so at last if you do cost benefit analysis a latest machine proves to be more economical. keeping in mind that it will serve you more then an lesser updated machine

    well thats what i think
