The Path to SEO success

Okay guys, I've written a few sites in the past and have had marginal to poor success in getting traffic to them. I've just set up a new site and thought I'd ask for opinions on how to improve the site and what steps I should take in getting good back links and other methods for gaining traffic.

    The site is:

    http://www.hotcajunrecipes.com

I'm thinking that I'd like to optimize for keywords 'cajun recipes' and 'cajun cooking' . I've included 'cajun recipes' in the sitename as well as in the page title. I've also set the individual recipe page titles to also include the recipe name. Do I need to do the same for the META descriptions?

I've started submitting my site information to many of the free directories as well as posting a few comments on cooking and cajun recipe blogs that have do follow links. Is this the right direction to take?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

<meta name="keywords" content="recipe, recipes, cajun, cookbook, Louisiana, creole, Appetizer, Beef, Beverage, Bread, Breakfast, Brunch, Casserole, Chicken, Chinese, Oriental, Dessert, Sweet, Egg, Fish, Shellfish, Italian, Pasta, Lamb, Mexican, Tex-Mex, Pork, Preserved, foods, Salad, Sandwiche, Sauce, Sides, Condiments, Soup, Turkey, Veal, Vegetable, book, cook, ingredients, category, categories, free, easy, simple ">

your keywords should be like :

cajun cookbook recipes, Louisiana cajun cookbook recipes, cajun breakfast cookbook recipes,

    " YOU WILL NEVER " - fine i wont say never BUT . . .
IT WILL BE AN INCREDIBLE FEAT IF YOU CAN GET RANKED FOR :

    BREAD
    CHICKEN
    CHINESE

or any one word keyword . . . IT JUST WONT HAPPEN, try adding more things like my 1st example . . . i didnt want to do it for you cause then it might be dupilicate info if both things get indexed

<meta name="description" content="HotCajunRecipes.com is a full featured recipe database filled with delicious Cajun and Creole recipes from Louisiana">

HotCajunRecipes.com - Delicious Louisiana Creole recipes

WHAT VISITOR IS GOING TO CARE ABOUT YOUR DATABASE :D also database is not even a keyword you chose . . . so you shouldnt use it in your description even if it was a different word besides database, if its not in your keywords dont put it in your description . . .

    HOPE THIS HELPS !

Are you saying that just by making the changes you've suggested that I should make a huge jump? The site is less than a week old.

Thank you for the offer. I may take you up on it, but at the moment I do not have the budget to pay that much. This is pretty much the reason why I posted the message asking for help/advice. Your suggestions are definitely appreciated and I would love to here more from you or anyone else who can provide additional help.

Should I use 'no follow' links on things I don't find to be import? For example, I have links to my 'Contact Us' page and 'Terms of Service' pages. Would adding 'no follow' to these links add more weight to the other more important links on the page?

no follow is up to you . . . you want ALL YOUR pages indexed not other peoples so you can do no follow on links to their site if you dont wanna give credit to those people for what ever the topic is at hand

AND YES I HAVE FOUND MY LITTLE WAY THAT I HAVE PROVEN TO MYSELF WITH ALL THE DOMAINS I HAVE RELEASED THAT THIS METHOD WORKS . . .so yes it is my own little secret that when i do someones website i tell them . . . . turns out its in FRONT OF EVERYONES FACE YOU JUST HAVE TO GIVE IT THOUGHT . . . and thats all i am saying about that subject . . . WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN LITTLE INTERNET "SECRETS" WHERE IF WE TELL EVERY ONE IT WILL BE WORTHLESS YOU TELL SOME IT WILL BE PRICELESS, and since they / who ever just learned about it had to pay for it they probably wont tell you either . . . but i did not pay for it i just thought about the process of it . . .

I've made some changes to my site and am wondering if you guys could comment on them.

I'm entertaining the idea of spending $40-$50 if someone is interested in doing some SEO of my site for me. Is there a place on the forum to make a post requesting this type of service?

The main thing to remember for meta keywords is to make them 100% relevant with the text on your page. Read this Article.

Right. I've included at least one mention of each on the page and have included an H1 tag with main keywords 'cajun recipes' .. I've also added those keywords at the beginning (right under the header) and at the end (last words in the footer).

I'm guessing I need to bulk up the text portion at the bottom of the center section. I'm afraid to regurgitate the keywords over and over though...

you don't need a high ratio of your keywords. too much will seem spammy and will hurt more than help.

So If my site Is targeting a local area is it good to have the suburb names in the "content" or "Keywords"?
My site is related to Discount Shopping and as I have a lot of catagories so have been working on this as my text link as well as cheap Grocery , Or is it better to target the actual catagories.

    localspecial.com.au

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You basically just ATTEMPTED to hijack this thread . . . i would think you would need to ask your own question to get an answer . . . but as far as content i dont even use that one but if you chose to put your suburb names in keywords that may or may not be helpful it all depends on how many other people are trying to get those "keywords" what ever they may be . . .
