    Nope...

No correlation between visible PR and SERP's. I implied nothing about internal PR. You assumed. Assumed incorrectly.

The question being asked was about visible PR. We can't see internal PR Michael. ;)

Well, we can't see current internal PR accurate to whatever decimal point it is that Google goes to... but the PR export is still the same thing as internal PR on a given day, rounded to the nearest whole number. If I'm going to attempt to get someone to link to me, I am going to spend more time wooing someone who could link to me from a PR6 page with a recent cache date than I am schmoozing up to someone whose best they have is a PR2 that hasn't been cached in over 45 days, ya know?

Most of us don't have one website that ranks for one term in the #1 spot that we can now sit back and retire on... it's an ongoing process. So while knowing a sites most recent (rounded) PR won't affect today's rankings, it still has use.

Yes, it doesn't tell us everything... but it is not meaningless, pointless, frivolous, or a waste of time to care about PR.

We can't see internal PR values EVER Michael.

No, the export is not the same thing as internal PR. Not even remotely.

    Decimal point? LOL!

What's even more a waste of time, is you trying to convince me you know what you're talking about.

My humble suggestion would be for you to spend less time talking and more time reading and learning.

It's why you have 2 ears and 1 mouth... so you can spend twice as much time listening and learning than you do talking. ;)

while you guys are busy arguing, I went from PR2 to PR3 just to back the thread up. And I did check all datacenters!

You have got to be kidding. Exactly what do you think TB PR is? I mean, to you, is it some sort of random value, unattached to anything else? Where exactly are you getting your concept of it from?

Google is currently updating the PageRank. Some of our internal pages PR has jumped to 6 & 7. :)

This update is a bit confusing. A lot of people have been reporting that their inner pages have been updating, but not their index page.

Should be interesting to see what happens. :)

I think the ultimate waste of time he has made is listening to you. I did a check on your websites, PR4 but not appearing for the top 4 pages on google (nor did I ever find them, but I didn't use a tool to dig up the top 1,000 pages of results on google either..)for any of the keywords of items you portend to be selling.

Food for thought, but I suggest you pay particular notice to those three fingers pointing back at you when you dare suggest mvandemar should "shut up" and listen.

Ok well you both have some good points, Dave yes PR is important to a site maybe not so much for rankings but it does make it alot easier to get link exchanges from other sites with good PR and higher traffic.

mvandemar no tool bar PR is not the same as internal PR even right now at this very moment the new PR values that are showing in the toolbar are already at least a week old. Google itself updates all sites PR contstantly hour by hour same with a sites incoming BL's but it only makes this information publicly available once every 3 months

    Michael...

    The operative here is "value".

We could name that value anything we want. We could say one site has a PR value of "fantastic" and another with a PR value of "more fantastic". Bottom line is it tells you nothing.

TBPR is a representation of a value we don't know, nor do we know precisely what affect it has on a variety of things, if at all.

    1. You haven't a clue as to how many sites I have.

    2. If you knew what you were searching for you'd find my sites on page 1

    3. Don't blindly bring up my websites again unless you are intent on really pissing off someone with a whole lot of time and resources at their disposal.
