I purchased a few domains with PR that did have a PR or website and retained PR on it. And it retained pr with this current PR. So I feel it all depends on what you do with it and how you market it.

But I think timing is also possible as well. If you do it within PR updates, you will not get a new PR update till another 3 months if you obtain it within 30 days of the next Google Update. Timing and building is essential of building a website b4 the next update if you get it prior to the next 30 day update.

You're not the only one, AP. It's happened to me too, but SOME people just can't get their little mind around that idea. :)

Some of my sites made ridiculous changes.

My Borat site, which is #3 in Google is still PR0, a new site with ONLY a link from that Borat site, and registered Nov 26th, is now PR3.

Tons of brand new sites of mine got PR4, and my longer owned ones didn't move.

One site registered 12-08-06 (about 1 month ago) is PR 4. No complaints, just odd.

    Hmmm....

I observed two things with my sites:
    1. Websites which saw changes in SOME datacenters are now showing changed or more and more datacenters now.
    2. My sites which did not get new PR ( and were surely expected), two days back, haven't shown any PR as of now on ANY of the datacenters.

    I am little worried.:D

i dont think this is an update., 2 days back they fell down to zero from 6, all were authority sites., Now the pr went back to 6 again, except one site which is now showing an old PR lol

Anyone notice the fluctuations in Yahoo rankings too? :D

I am also observing the same thing.

I have recently start my new directory - one month back its showing PR2 with 0% work. and one another directory which is running since last 4 months and I had work a lot for good PR is still PR0.

perhaps PRs are assigned by the kids at Google's daycare and the G's engineers are all laughing at us right now...

It appears to me that the algorithm takes into account (and discredits) some attempts at increasing PR.

I'm not the only one here who sees PR on inner pages (which have not been worked), but no change on homepages we've all been pimping.

I haven't seen anyone else comment on pages with Wikipedia links, which, on my site, have a lower PR than other, nearly hidden pages.

But I just checked my employer's site, which has been under construction since August 28. I don't know what you call it, like a "coming soon," is that a doorway, or something?

It was a PR5 six months ago and it's a PR5 now, without any changes to the homepage.

Amazingly, it has a TOTAL of 30 links (across all sources: Yahoo, MSN, G...) when checked on marketleap.com. All 4 of its G links come from blog comments my boss has made in the last couple months.

At first, when I got into this world I thought it was crazy, what people were paying for things like domain names. Now I know how valuable a domain name registered in 1996 can be.

Six months of "under construction"... what do you think would happen to your site?
