I can see it now ... two G engineers taking bets as they sit in front of thier computer. Hey Ralpf I bet you that I can start 10 threads there over on digitalpoint. George well heck I can start or bump 20 threads on a PR update within the next hour at DP. So both George and Ralph go for it making minor changed to the algo trying to do a short term tweak that will affect a few data centers ...

Nope no changes here just a few fluctuations.

    Ok

Here in the first half of your statement you say you are seeing lots of changes....

Yet in the next breathe you state:

Here you are stating the opposite of the first part in that you do not see any changes.

    That is self contradiction.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
And this has me wondering which one of us is more insane.......at one point I thought I was.....:D

I'm not seeing an update on page rank but back links have more than doubled from 21 to 46 in the last couple of days. Odd though, the 21 are not included in the 46. The 46 are all new. Hmmm

erm...what he said was not a contradiction. What you did was change the actual words he said and therefore changed the meaning of the sentence which made it look like he had made a contradiction.

if you change the words it becomes not a quote but an interpretation of what he said.

Edit: now you can once again believe that you are the more insane one! :D

Google never reveals all of the things it has in it's database about a website, if you check Yahoo I am sure you would see an even larger amount of links to your site...

For all anyone knows the original 21 could be the ones Google is counting now and the 46 are to be counted in 3 months after the next update.

    Notting

I think I understand what you are trying to say and I may have determined MGs contradictory statement as to mean he sees lots of his own sites changing although many other posters are reporting seeing no changes.....

There's a case to be made in being more succinct in ones posts. As written the statement is clearly contradictory.

Thanks for the affirmation I am more insane....... I was worried I could be normal, wait that wasn't me...nevermind :D

I realize that. What I was saying is that Google has shown the same 21 backlinks for me for months but now I'm seeing 46 and none of the 21 are among the 46. I check back links, page rank and SERP almost daily and just saw this change in back links Monday to 45. Then yesterday it was back to the original 21 and today showing 46. Haven't seen back links jump around like that unless an update was in the near future.

Ok well I am pretty sure Googles starting to update, I put the end of this update to be done by January 15th but I could be off a week or two ;)

Next update I am going to go with should be completed around April 8th.

Can I ask how checking links page rank and serp position generates a lead for you?

To be perfectly honest from my experience with buyers agents (I do a lot of real estate marketing) the organic SERPS probably are not where your targeted user is to be found.

So worrying over these issues is probably making you less productive than you could be if you looked at other forms of marketing and improving on your lead generation and moving leads to conversions.

    just my two cents

I get about 50% of my business from my websites People relocating to the area search the internet for homes. The better placement I have the more visitors I have which leads to more closings. Takes me about 5 seconds a day to log on and click "Check all" on keyword tracker. Another minute or two to look the results over and see if there are any changes. I don't "worry" about them but since organic ranking is where a lot of my business comes from, sure, I track it. I check it more often now because I am trying to get a new site off the ground. But I also market myself and my sites in many other ways: print, SOI, drip email, direct, etc. I'm very productive as a REALTOR and I believe those who don't have a successful presence on the internet will have a very difficult time making it in this business.

Well put however you didn't mention PPC, and you would find a lot of targeted users this way as well.

    Continued success!

No changes for my PR0 sites either.
Only fluctuations with the PR of
older sites. And I really hope the
new once will be included in this one
    - whenever it comes this month.
