my directory used to have 4 pr. Now, it has a mixture of 3s and 4s! Which is which will be the final value

If you have PR4 before and mixed with pr3 now. Your rank will decrease to PR3..

PR4 is very easy to achieve, it was like that for PR5 years ago

 

Four months ago my directory got 4 pr with few or no links. Now after it has many backlinks - it went down!

but now i see PR2 for the site on my Google Toolbar..

Do you have good rankings ?

I got a down pr from 5 to 4 but my rankings are up from position 9 to 6 for a 34 milion results keyword that's what it counts the traffic

 

you mean pr5 was easy to get yeas ago. i feel pr5 alway is difficult.

 

I've been reading for ages about the PR update and people talking saying that it's here and I'd just seen nothing. Well, I've finally got my PR+

 

Google was nice on this update. My month old PR0 site is getting PR5 (14 datacenters so far)

That is indeed true. My directories which have lots of high PR links got PR3 & 4.

The one which had reasonable amount of links with 4/5 PR6 and 7 PR7 got PR6.

So has happened with Alive. Naturally, this time Chris had more backlinks power--but it still downed Alive from PR7 to PR6. So --don't regret --its not only you.

I think G's algo has changed a lot.

 

Number of links does not manage, but quality and ranking of those links matters a lot. Originally, you could have had one PR4 link and little else and that would have been enough to give you a PR4 rank. Today, your links could include a plenty of zeros and ones. In that case, your PR could drop.

Also be careful about content duplication. I had a blog go from PR3 to PR0 over that issue. I resolved the problem over the past few months and the new ranking should be PR3.

Suggestions:

* Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
* Try different keywords.
* Try more general keywords.

Also, in the http errors page it comes up with one of the pages with this "406 (Not acceptable)". What does this mean?

Is this like a total ban or something? I submitted for a re-inclusion as well.

It seems like the updates have propagated to a few DC's and have now halted. I'm not seeing any new DC's being updated now.

 

Because the Google Monkeys have eaten all their share of bananas. Google Labs need to go shopping at Google Fruit & Vegies to get some more
