I see changes in my site and do not think that there is a PR update, because I saw those changes when they happened:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2893406#post2893406

What you are seeing is some PR that got leaked out when the backlinks were updated in conjunction with the canonicalization update to fix problems I was seeing months ago...

I am convinced they are still experimenting with the canonicalization update, and once they have things right they will be able to do a real PR update.

The PR you see on these few d/c's will not spread, and will be wiped away in the next real PR update. That was not a PR update.

Yeah, I think you are right .... the new PR has been wiped from the DCs now so it's back to normal again .... Just another false alarm :(

But it's good to know what the 'future' PR will be for my site ;)

No, this is not a "leak". It is the exact same pattern that followed last year around this time. They did a partial roll out, and when they did it was the same time that they accidentally put MSN and Digg to PR0 iirc. It stayed that way for a short period of time, then they rolled back, and then they pushed out a new one. I'll try and dig up the thread from last year if I can later.

Now, since last years was a break from the normal pattern, and since this is the only other time I've seen it, then of course there is nothing saying that they have to re-roll it out again, or propagate it, or whatever. But what we saw was not a glitch, and it was not false reporting (which is 99% of what you see on these boards). It was real activity, and definitely worth tracking.

How long was it between when they rolled it back (which they seem to have done today), and pushed it out again?

I would have to find the thread. The part that sticks out in my mind is that when it did roll out fully, it was done in less than an hour. Let me search for "that was fast", because I think that was my response when it happened. :p

Ok, it was July 13 2007, a Thursday. It started at 5:36pm:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=107899

    and ended by 6:45pm:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1112843

although there might have been a minor flux afterwards. So, go through the PR threads just before that one, and you should be able to see the patterns of what happened just before, the frozen rollout, the rollback, etc. Looks like on the 7th the rollout was frozen still, and had started a few days before:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1087646&highlight=froze#post1087646

and near as I can tell, it was still frozen on the 12th, although I would have to skim back through the thread to be sure:

I noticed new inner pages of an older domain gained Pagerank. Still yet to see PR for new sites though.

Which pages/sites/dc's? It looks like most of what we were talking about before rolled back for now, if you have something currently showing changes it would be good to see.

Oh, and if you guys thought digpagerank got a spike last month, look at the one from this weekend. :p
