The Pagerank (PR) Thread

So now when your PR went up, the question is...

Did you suddenly start getting tuns of traffic? Did you jump up in SERPs? Like i said before, PR is just an indicator. You should work on SEO and traffic and use PR to see how well you are doing rather than trying to increase PR itself. Its like rubbing the thermometer when you want the weather to get warmer.

 

Got another increase - 0 to 2.

 

The site which I launched 4 weeks back was on PR 0, until about an hour back when I last checked. But just now I noticed the PR has changed to 1 in most of the DCs.

So the update is still going on.

 

i got an upgrade from ) to 3 in one site and 4 to 5 in another....this upgrade happened TODAY cause i check everyday

 

Wasn't this thread closed? This morning I saw someone replied in my CP. I viewed the thread, and it was closed. About a minute later, there was another reply, yet the thread was still closed? What's up with that? Now it is not showing closed?

I liked this thread better when it was CLOSED...

 

I'm just as confused as you are. I saw the exact same thing.

 

I guess they just closed it to change the name or something.

PR has always been an indicator and nothing more. PR never means you will be getting better traffic. It just means your page is up and running/functional.

In order to receive traffic, you need advertising. PR will not bring in droves of traffic.

For the most part, I think PR is just a matter of bragging rights, that one has done something right in building a website. Nothing more.

And yes I reply to such threads for a matter of Bragging rights and ego I guess.

I would agree on your point that PR doesn't bring traffic. However, PR can make you money in a different way. A lot of advertisers would be willing to pay good money for a link on a page that has high PR. Afterall, that is why we are all here...to make money.

And, why would they close such an active thread...it's free content for DP

 

Have to disagree, a high PR will bring in droves of traffic if you then build lots of small pages to exploit it

I checked one of our sites during the update, www.bathroomvesselsinks.com and it showed a PR4 on my google toolbar on my pc, but then 1 day later it went to 0, i used some online web based PR checkers, which also say 4, but why does my toolbar still show 0?

Can someone lead me to a page rank checker that shows all google datacenters PR ratings?

Why would it go to 4 then down to 0?

It's up and down during updates. Things are constantly stirring. I would not be too worried about it.

Finally i see some changes in that toolbar.. Been staring at that thing for 6 months now... I know it's not realtime and search results won't differ, but damn it feels good to see that little green bar, instead of a green dot
