Memory was something you lost with age
    An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
    A cursor used profanity

    A keyboard was a piano
    A web was a spider's home
    A virus was the flu
A CD was a bank account

A hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived

And if you had a 3 inch floppy....

. . . you just hoped nobody ever found out :D

Oh that is so true :p

Haha, I'm going to get rid of the paper and pen next year and use my laptop to copy down lecture notes :D

    Nice post.

I can barely use a pen/pencil and paper anymore. I can type faster than I can think, but when I have to go the bank or something and use a PEN - they must think I'm 'special'.

Some people call that list "the good old days."
I'm getting pretty happy with what we have these days.

I actually miss the good old days. These fancy new days always have me wondering about what's next - and how long I have to wait until I get it, not appreciating what I have here and now.

Do they allow typewriters in exams :p

Actually, the first computers were people who calculated the outputs of certain formulas at certain values (such as the square root), and then then wrote them down. They did computations, and thus were called computers. It was a job only for the highly educated, and these people were often hired only by nobles or the then equivalent of mega-corps (such as merchant trading companies) to compute huge tables of these values ahead of time so that the less skilled could just look these values up.

In time, Babbage created a 'mechanical computer' which could do the job of a highly trained human, but mechanically.

That's the first electronic computer. Which was pre-dated by Babage's difference engine (a mechanical computer) which was pre-dated by human calculators.
