    How on earth do you know the submission date? My directories are sorted alphabetically... or by some other criteria

    On 2 of my (3) directories I give a list of newest approvals so comparing the cache with the home page will show how much recent activity there has been and how actively the directory is maintained.

    However when I'm submitting sites (and I have 11 loaded up on informenter at the moment) I find the free directories and enter them. I don't sweat it, I just get the job done. The time it takes to submit 11 sites will be less than it takes to make all those checks, make value judgements etc.

    I have all my link submissions and payments emails filtered to the relevant directory label with gmail, then just look there :)

    The OP was talking about looking at existing submissions and deciding on whether to submit for the first time...

    Just my opinion, but by the time you do the research and then find out if the directory is crawled by the search engines, you could have already just submitted your own site and be onto the next... am I wrong?

    you're the only one that seems to be right. I mean.. Google gives you credit for the quality backlinks but ignores your low, or very low quality backlinks. a backlink can't harm you as long as you don't link to the site that links to you. imagine how many trillions of spammy, trojan full and other bad stuff sites link to google, and how many quality sites, considering the number is equal.. it should have 0 rankings

    hey, 36 isn't bad, but i'll take it, knowing i have not plugged that phrase just yet, which lets me know I have a lot of ground I can make up to actually get it up there(hopefully) in the end. ;)
