Vista sucks! I Upgraded to XP FROM Vista! Yes, it was an upgrade! You can actually make XP look and feel like Vista if you want, for free!

And DX10 is stupid! Somebody will figure out a way to make it work with XP eventually....

Also, please, for the love of all things good, and for your own safety, try some form of linux. I suggest Kubuntu.

well for me, once XP is done for, Ill just upgrade to linux.

Oh and anyway, if vista is so good, why has microsoft already started working on Vistas successor?

If you simply want the look and feel of Vista, use a vista theme

Personally i would rather stay with XP until they make it fully compatible and when the memory is cheap enough. I think 2GB is ideal

Vista is never ideal...it is ME 2.0. Use Linux (KUBUNTU!!?! See the Live CD sometime...its nice kubuntu.org) and/or XP (preferably linux only, or linux+XP)....

I still think that XP is a security threat (prolly fewer backdoors, as users have had time to plug them) but not as much as Vista.

    Personally, XP is great.

It's great for a work enviroment and home enviroment.

I don't think it's wise having vista at the office, as it uses alot of resources, and requires a decent graphics card.

I use XP on the windows 2000 theme, which is pretty fast.

Yeah, themes really eat up ram...but I have a gig, so no biggie...and will be adding another gig later... (my laptop...its like a Cadillac..big (17in) and powerful).

Linux is even faster because it uses both cores in 64bit mode, is coded better, and is just generally faster.

I use vista i havent had any crash with vista. The only problem vista has is if you put your laptop/pc on standby sometimes it will never come back when you try and awake it. Also it is annoying when some programs dont work on vista.

Over all i would say 7/10

But CTRL+ALT+DEL sometime and see how much memory it takes. The sidebar alone takes 80+megs, and then the useless services...like User Access Control.

I might not have a keyboard soon as I bash it every time my game battlefield 2142 crashes :p.

Seriously if I wasnt lazy I would downgrade without hesitation. I hate IE7 also ahhhh. move the stupid buttons on me.

I have 4GB of ram 3.5GB of which is being used as it does not support the full 4GB :(. runs just fine on my pc.

Chris what are you running and what are you planning to downgrade for?

for battlefield, get a new gpu. I suggest a nice Nvidia card, for about 200 bucks. Wont ever crash again

    Whats your cpu speed?
