    i'm still older than these domains hahaha. but i really had no idea they already existed in 1985. i always thought the internet was born much later

    That's not the beginning of the internet; I was using it in 1985 before there were any domains. There used to be a static "hosts" file that was copied from server to server, which contained a master name-to-IP-address mapping. When a new host came online, a new file would be generated and sent around. Works fine when the internet has a few hundred hosts; would not be so fine today.
